While extreme weather events like droughts and floods occur naturally in Texas, precipitation in the state is becoming more variable, making droughts more potent and increasing the risk of heavy rainfall and flooding, Hayhoe said.
Climate Change May Have Souped Up Record-Breaking Texas Deluge – Scientific American
Precipitation in Texas is not changing. It is not becoming more variable.
I lived just a few blocks away from the Brazos River in Richmond during this 1992 flood
Floods in Texas happen all the time. In 1979, they had 43 inches of rain in one day at NASA Houston. At least four times as much as this week’s “record rainfall”
During the 1935 flood, two-thirds of the county was flooded
Houston had a major flood every six years from 1836 to 1936. It has nothing to do with “climate change”
Harris County suffered through 16 major floods from 1836 to 1936, some of which crested at more than 40 feet, turning downtown Houston streets into raging rivers.
Harris County Flood Control District – Harris County’s Flood History
Allison: A Name We’ll Never Forget Tropical Storm Allison suddenly formed 80 miles off the coast of Galveston, Texas, on Tuesday, June 5, 2001, no one expected that, five days later, it would go on record as one of the most devastating rain events in the history of the United States. Neither historical data nor weather forecasts could adequately predict this extraordinary storm that, before leaving the area, would dump as much as 80 percent of the area’s average annual rainfall over much of Harris County,
Hayhoe is a Canuck who showed up in Texas a few years ago, thinks she is an expert on Texas climate, and thinks she is superior to real Texans. She has no clue what she is talking about.
Tony, I like you pointing out the facts to warmest, but fact to them are like small arms fire to a M1A1 tank, they just bonce off. Oh by the way in the 70 the M1A1 tank was suppose to be a disaster according to the leftist, in the 80s the Cruse missile was never going to work. Lastly in the seventies we we all going to freeze by now which the leftist denies now. Fact don’t matter to the left, it how they feel that counts,
It takes the wind out their sails when they realize they are wrong. Only the most severe sociopaths like Obama can keep lying forever.
Very useful in instances such as this when they want to get bandwagons rolling based on any out of the ‘normal’ weather incident that occurs. Rapid response to show how anti-scientific they are is always required because the Borg is relentless (and shameless).
Don’t throw all of us US resident Canucks under the Hayhoe wagon.
But it does explain why she thinks the world is warmer. Texas is most certainly warmer than Toronto. Someone from the geology department should explain how a map works to her.
“This pin shows where you came from; and this pin shows where you are now”. Then put her helmet on and put her back on the short bus.
“Fact don’t matter to the left, it how they feel that counts”
True but I think its important to put the facts out for the general public that usually don’t hear any contrary views to the “consensus”.
Yep the self proclaimed “experts” fought the M1 all through it’s development. Claimed the composite armor would not work. Claimed the gas turbine engine would fail in dusty desert conditions. Claimed the Chemical, Biological, Nuclear defenses would not work. Claimed it was too expensive. etc. etc.
Happened to be attending PLDC at Ft. Knox when they had their first classes being trained on the M1. They were still training for the M60A1 at that time. Talked to a gunnery instructor while there. He told me that they had to cut the target size for the M1 on the live fire ranges to half the size they had been using for the M60A1.
Years later came Desert Storm (Actually Desert Sabre) Stormin Norman unleashed his “left hook” into the open Iraqi desert where even the Iraqis would not go because they lacked the ability to navigate in that featureless terrain. And the M1A1 was absolutely deadly against the Iraqi T-72Ms (the best tanks the Soviets would export at the time) in tank to tank warfare in the desert AFTER those US tanks had traversed 100 miles of desert on their own tracks.
It is so fitting that the M1 was named for Creighton Abrams who was one of Americas finest tread heads. During the Battle of the Bulge it was Co. C of the 37th Tank Battalion, Combat Command Romeo commanded by Abrams in 4th Armored Division that broke through and linked up with Combat Engineers of the 101st Abn Div. to break the siege. The 4th Armored took terrible losses during that drive but inflicted even worse on the Germans that were trying to stop them. I
The tank that led the way was named ‘Cobra King’. It was an M4A3E2 “Jumbo” assault tank. The “Jumbo” tanks were M4.s made in limited numbers at the Detroit Tank Arsenal. They had extra Armor and in fact the front glaces plate was thicker than that of a German Tiger I. When ‘Cobra King’ led the charge into Bastogne it became the most famous of the some 50,000 M4 Sherman tanks produced during WW II.
Here is what it looked like when it entered Bastogne:
http://www.americainwwii.com/files/2014/11/Cobra-King-335w.png
‘Cobra King’ went on to be up gunned with the long barreled 76mm and there is strong evidence it was disabled and captured by the Germans during Pattons’ failed Hammelburg Raid when he attempted to liberate a POW camp far behind German lines. His son in law, captured in N. Africa, was in that camp.
After that ‘Cobra King’ was lost until 2004 when an Army Chaplain figured out that a monument tank at Rose Barracks at Vilseck, Germany was in fact the most famous M4 tank of WW II. It had been missed all those years before because the wrong serial number had been put on it during one of it’s many repaintings as a monument tank.
This is what it looked like as a Monument Tank: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=249163
The tank was sent to the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox where it’s exterior was restored to it’s WW II configuration at the time it entered Bastogne. The interior, gutted by an small arms ammunition fire, was not restored.
The decision was made to move the Armor Museum from Ft. Knox, KY to he new US Army Armor and Calvary Museum Ft. Benning, GA and that is where ‘Cobra King’ can be found today.
For anyone who might be interested here is the Cobra Kings full history with an extensive gallary of the restoration process at Ft. Knox. And BTW the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox is still open and now the Patton Museum of Military leadership or something like that. But most of the armor that was there for many years is now at Ft. Benning.
Sorry forgot the link to the restoration page. here it is: http://armorfortheages.com/MilitaryVehicles/CobraKing/CobraKing.html
rah,
Hoo-ah!
Desert Sabre…not commonly known. BTDT.
hifast
Yea, Hifast. Not many seem to know that Desert Storm was the only name for air campaign to soften them up.
The M1 Abrams is a great tank. I was very surprised however, that even with the M1, one of them was knocked out (in Ramadi I think) by a RPG causing the turret to get
jammed as I recall. Multi-million dollar tank disabled by a $100 RPG.
And that is one reason why armor alone has not, and probably never will, be able to control the field without close infantry support. Several M1s were knocked out or immobilized by RPGs or IEDs during Iraqi Freedom and subsequent operations.
I come from a long line of Canuck’s, never felt superior to anyone, except on a hockey rink 🙂
Hey think how great Canada would be if we could export all of the losers / nuts to Texas … a veritable utopia 😉 … well except for the 9 months of winter!
How about suzuki!!
People cannot acknowledge nor accept facts counter to their perception… folks like Heyheo have blocked me on Twitter for pointing out facts like this… data found by Google in .1 seconds…
Flood in Texas??… wow… my first question is to check if its happened before… and how often before claiming ‘unprecedented’ or linking it to the hoax of Climate Change…
http://floodsafety.com/texas/USGSdemo/1950to1925.htm
Scroll thru this link and gauge unprecedented for yourself..
Yep. They hate the free Internet if it is not in their favor. But don’t worry. Ones they know who we are what we think and were we live they will, like China, fix that problem too. By now We are all on the ‘WANTED’ list. Everything we ever published or watched can be used against us.
(where we live)
I look forward to the day when Heyhoe loses her own personal world because the real world makes it untenable.
From 1837 onward is a long listing of Houston Floods:

It’s astonishing that there are still rational adults that take Hayoe seriously. If climate science hadn’t been thoroughly politicized, she would have been laughed at and given a pink slip long ago. She’s either an idiot or a career-climbing pathological liar.
Apparently Ms Hayhoe asserts she was taken out of context, so she pointed out what she actually wrote.

So she says ” science does not say that climate change is CAUSING the extreme rain and drought we’re seeing across the U.S. today, and in recent years. Just like steroids make a baseball player stronger, climate change EXACERBATES many of our weather extremes, making many of them, on average, worse than they would have been naturally”
I think that history shows that naturally these extreme events were worse in the past and more extreme than they have been recently. So tell me again how climate change made them worse?
I don’t think it is science, if you take everything that happens, and say it was made worse by CO2 than it would have been otherwise, and then say that whatever has happened is then proof of your assertion.
Sometimes I am ashamed to be Canadian. This is one of those times.
Hayhoe come back to Canada. You’ll fit in very easily with the rest of the Climate Lying morons up here. Suzuki misses you.
Repeating from an earlier post….
The devastated area of Texas is known as Flash Flood Alley for a reason.

Blame Canada.
This is a good article on this topic: https://medium.com/@spann/the-age-of-disinformation-98d55837d7d9
Hayhoe is rather despicable, hiding behind a well funded facade of Christianity to lob over her fibs and deceptions.
The entire silliness of CO2 causing the planet to overheat is something that HG wells would invent after his Time Machine novel.
Always follow the money: research grants. speaking engagements, front page publicity, and an invitation to the next cocktail party. I left out university tenure.
In the old days, one’s integrity was not for sale.
Kirk
Hey Kirk! There are still people out there who value their integrity, but I think that once they find out that certain professions require one to have none, they try to steer clear of those professions.
About all of this being on the level of an H.G. Wells a plot vehicle, you’re right, except that no one have found it believable! The novel would be a commercial flop once people heard how ridiculous the plot was.

Reblogged this on Climatism.
Just discovered your blog while looking for a Hayhoe article. Interesting assembly of Global Warming Deniers. Your main defense against Katherine Hayhoe’s science-based arguments are name-calling. It’s also quite revealing that Militarists see the writing on the wall. War is about the most anti-environmental human activity on the planet. That includes Wars For Oil in support of our bipartisan Perpetual War Economy. You can’t say Obama hasn’t done his part, no matter how much you try to inject partisan arguments. According to DeSmogBlog, Steven Goddard is an alias for Tony Heller. Is that true, Tony? Will you leave this post up for you readers to see? http://www.desmogblog.com/steven-goddard
