Joe Romm has been telling us that 2010 is the “hottest year ever” – despite the fact that satellite temperatures say otherwise. But today, he excitedly reports “ENDLESS SUMMER: September was the hottest on record globally in the RSS satellite dataset.”
RSS was just barely warmer last month than September 1998, but most of the year 2010 has been cooler than 1998. So the way it works with Joe is, he loves satellites during months which agree with his worldview, and ignores them the rest of the time.
He also loved Moscow when it was hot, and now ignores it when it is cold. His constantly shifting approach to science will always support his religious beliefs.

The leitmotif that seems to be emerging is that of a movement that is mathematically challenged. Just look at the “apology” from 10:10, re: their failed 4 min. video. They were excusing it by saying that they only “killed” 5 people in it. My math says 2 students + 4 office workers + 1 soccer jock + 1 voiceover chick = 8 “kills”. That’s about 160% of their apologetic figure.

That image of record highs and lows looks like a “climate” cycle …. but just one half of it. Place a mirror image to its right and the trend will reverse, along with a lot of other factors and readings that depend on the various 40, 60 and 100 year climatic cycles.
