Fort Collins Most Famous Family

THE tearful 911 call made by Mayumi and Richard Heene to report their son missing in a homemade flying saucer has been made public. An operator struggles to understand a distraught-sounding Mrs Heene as she tries to explain six-year-old Falcon is “in the air”. “We’ve gotta get my son,” she cries. The confused call is punctuated by long silences and the sound of Mrs Heene sobbing. The operator questions her about controls and tracking devices and asks: “Does he know how to work the flying saucer?”

Mr Heene’s voice also breaks as he takes over the call and explains more about the helium-filled balloon’s construction. We have it tethered. It wasn’t supposed to take off,” he said. He also asks if authorities can detect the electricity the balloon emits. “It emits a million volts on the outer skin.”

We are coming up on the one year anniversary of Balloon Boy! A day to make us locals proud. First installment of the anniversary celebration is this fine rap video.

(At least we aren’t as messed up as Boulder. Their most famous family is the Ramseys.)
