‘Unprecedented’: Scientists declare ‘global climate emergency’ after jet stream crosses equator

Dr. Roy Spencer explained why this is complete nonsense, and showed that Paul Beckwith understands nothing about climate or meteorology.

A “jet stream” in the usual sense of the word is caused by the thermal wind, which cannot exist at the equator because there is no Coriolis force. To the extent that there is cross-equator flow at jet stream levels, it is usually from air flowing out of deep convective rain systems. That outflow often enters the subtropical jet stream, which is part of the average Hadley Cell circulation.

There is frequently cross-equatorial flow at jet stream altitudes, and that flow can connect up with a subtropical jet stream. But it has always happened, and always will happen, with or without the help of humans. Sometimes the flows connect up with each other and make it look like a larger flow structure is causing the jet stream to flow from one hemisphere to the other, but it’s in no way unprecedented.

Beckwith’s stupidity rates right up there with Al Gore’s northern hemisphere hurricanes rotating clockwise.

In 1989, NASA’s James Hansen was predicting 4-9 degrees of warming by 2050. NOAA pointed out this was nonsense,  that all global warming had occurred before 1921, and that Earth had cooled since 1921 – as CO2 increased.

NASA responded to this challenge by erasing the 1881 to 1921 warming as well as the 1921 to 1989 cooling. They reversed both trends and created a completely fraudulent temperature record which drives the global warming scam.

NOAA also said in 1989 that there had been no warming in the US from 1895 to 1989.

NASA responded to this challenge by corrupting the US temperature record and creating 0.5C US warming from 1895 to to 1989 – where previously there had been none.

NOAA said in 1989 that there is “considerable uncertainty among scientific experts.” #ExxonKnew people focus on the testimony of crackpots like NASA’s James Hansen, who predicted nine degrees warming by 2050 – while ignoring the fact that actual scientists didn’t believe anything Hansen was saying.

There was and is no scientific consensus for catastrophic global warming. Only 52% of professional members of the American Meteorological Society believe that global warming is primarily man made, much less catastrophic.

Had the author actually done any research, she would have known that Antarctic sea ice is increasing, not decreasing.

The White House wants to extort money out of Exxon, based on junk science and a fabricated history.

Two weeks ago, experts announced an historic heatwave in Arizona. They said that “Lying About Science For Politics Is Evil” – which is exactly what they are doing. In fact, June has been just about average and much cooler than 1896.

The June heatwave of 1896 was much hotter and longer than this year’s two day spike.

This year’s heatwave was just about average, and nowhere near a record.

With climate experts, it is all lies, all the time. And then they accuse the honest people of being liars.

Earlier this year I caught NSIDC making huge areas of five year old ice disappear overnight. They are back for more, claiming that Nuuk, Greenland hit 75 degrees in June.

This is total nonsense. The official GHCN temperature on June 9 in Nuuk was 67 degrees, not 75 degrees – and barely warmer than 1965.

But it gets worse, NSIDC claimed three big melting spikes going up to 40% of Greenland’s area melting.

This also looks like BS. DMI shows no day above 30% melting.

Greenland melting has been below the 1990-2013 mean almost every day since mid-May, yet the fraudsters at NSIDC claim near record melting is going on.

The graph below overlays the NSIDC data in red on the DMI data in blue. They agreed until June, when the NSIDC spikes went up 50% higher than DMI.

There is no indication that Greenland is melting down. Surface mass gain is above normal – at 500 billion tons of new ice since last August.

NSIDC is run by Mark “Arctic Screaming Death Spiral” Serreze, who predicted the North Pole would be ice-free in 2008.
