On February 20, 1969 the New York Times said the Arctic will be ice-free by 1989, and that it will cause catastrophic shifts in climate.

During the hot summer of 2011, Texas A&M climate expert Andrew Dessler predicted in the Houston Chronicle that Texas would be hot and dry for the rest of century, just as he originally predicted in 1995.
Texas is vulnerable to warming climate – Houston Chronicle
The closest USHCN station to Houston is at Liberty, TX which is about 25 miles northeast. Since Dessler’s 2011 prediction, precipitation has increased every year and last year was the wettest year on record.
The frequency of hot days peaked in 1958, and has declined over the past 110 years.
Climate fraudsters don’t want to talk about their incompetence, so they have changed their story to claim that heavy precipitation events have increased. There was an increase at the PDO shift in 1977, and El Nino years bring more days with heavy rain. It has nothing to do with “climate change”
Afternoon temperatures have dropped considerably since the 1950’s

Texas is getting cooler and wetter, not hotter and drier. Dessler is a typical climate snake oil salesman.
The New York Times is lying about climate yet again, claiming that last year was a record fire year at 10.1 million acres and it was due to climate.
Wildfires, Once Confined to a Season, Burn Earlier and Longer – The New York Times
The level of fraud is off-scale. The New York Times reported in 1938 that more than twice that many acres burned in 1937. Why didn’t Matt Richtel and Fernanda Santos research their own paper?
The US Forest Service reported that five times as many acres burned in the early 1930’s
Indicator 3.16: Area and percent of forest affected by abiotic agents
But their fraud gets much worse. When CO2 was at pre-industrial levels, forest burned almost fifteen times as much land in the US.

Outside of Alaska and California, last year was not a big fire year. The Rocky Mountains were very wet and had one of the quietest fire seasons on record. The constant climate fraud from the New York Times gives me something to write about almost every single day.
On this date 110 years ago, San Francisco was destroyed by a massive earthquake and fire. It had nothing to do with fracking or climate change.

The White House and Democrat state attorney generals are conspiring to violate the First and Fourth Amendment rights of people who disagree with the White House climate scam. The White House is openly committing a felony covered under civil rights law.

The US Government has long known that runaway global warming is not possible. A 1941 Department of Agriculture climate report covered this.

In 1961, there was unanimous consensus that the Earth was cooling.

In 1972, the National Science Board warned of a new ice age.

Democrats refuse to listen to anyone who isn’t a professional climatologist about climate. This sounds like a sensible approach, until you realize who climatologists are. They are people whose living depends on pushing global warming alarmism.
Consider the Texas State Climatologist who predicted Texas would remain in a drought until 2020. He had no idea what he was talking about, but it made the kind of story which attracts press attention, and brings money in.
Texas A&M Climatologist Says Drought Could Last Until 2020
Meteorologists have known for over 40 years that climatologists are incompetent hacks. This goes back to the time when climatologists predicted that global cooling was going to kill us all.

Climatology is a political tool of government. It has nothing to do with science.
Two years ago, Canadian Texas Tech evangelical Katharine Hayhoe, claimed in the movie “Years Of Living Dangerously” that heatwaves in Texas were becoming much more common, and cherry-picked a start date of 40-50 years ago to begin her analysis.
Drought – Years Of Living Dangerously
The reason she picked a start date of 40 years ago, is because that was the coolest date in the Texas temperature record. This is spectacularly dishonest, as heatwaves have declined long-term in Texas and were much more common prior to 1960.
This deception is typical of Hayhoe climate fraud. She then claims that Texas droughts are getting worse due to “climate change” – when there is no evidence to back it up.
The long term trend for Texas is towards less drought, and they are currently the wettest place in the US – with huge amounts of rain forecast the next few weeks.

It is probably best to be skeptical about Canadian evangelicals living in Texas.
The US Government has known for 75 years that added CO2 has little effect on climate. That was the year Bernie Sanders was born.
NOAA claims that their Arctic ice records began in 1979
Warmer air and sea, declining ice continue to trigger Arctic change
This is not true. They have records going back to at least 1973. Winter sea ice in 1974 was nearly two million km² lower in 1974 than it was in 1979.
climate-assessment-1981-1990.pdf
The 1990 IPCC Report showed the same thing, in more detail.
I overlaid the NOAA 1979 to 1990 Arctic ice area graph on the current UIUC graph below, and it becomes clear why NOAA doesn’t want you to know about the pre-1979 data. Winter ice area in 1974 was only slightly larger than this year.

NOAA wants you to believe that Arctic ice is declining linearly, when in fact it is cyclical. We keep hearing hysterical pronouncements about Arctic sea ice from government agencies, when in fact there has been no net change over the past decade.

The Arctic lost a lot of multi-year ice due from 1988 to 2007, due to winter winds blowing the ice out into the North Atlantic. This pattern has reversed, and the winter ice is being retained now.
Dr. Bill Gray has passed away. He was my hero, and an inspiration.
Besides being a top tropical meteorologist and hurricane forecaster, Bill was a man of the highest integrity and character. Bill had his funding cut off by Al Gore in 1993 for refusing to go along with Gore’s global warming politics. Unlike so many others, Bill chose scientific integrity over politics and money, and fought against climate fraud to his last breath.
I spoke with Bill on Sunday by phone, and his last words to me were “I hear the beer is colder on the other side. We will have to have our next one there.” He kept his great sense of humor right up to the end.
I look forward to our next pint, but for now I am heartbroken. Bill passed away on a snowy day in Colorado. His late wife Nancy was Mayor of Fort Collins during the 1980’s, and was responsible for the great system of bike trails there.
Rest in Peace Bill. I will miss you terribly. Bill asked me to carry the climate torch forward for him the next few decades, and I promised him I would.
