New York Times Caught Lying – Yet Again

The New York Times is lying about climate yet again, claiming that last year was a record fire year at 10.1 million acres and it was due to climate.

Wildfires, Once Confined to a Season, Burn Earlier and Longer – The New York Times

The level of fraud is off-scale. The New York Times reported in 1938 that more than twice that many acres burned in 1937. Why didn’t Matt Richtel and Fernanda Santos research their own paper?

October 9, 1938 – NYTimes

The US Forest Service reported that five times as many acres burned in the early 1930’s

But their fraud gets much worse. When CO2 was at pre-industrial levels, forest burned almost fifteen times as much land in the US.

Outside of Alaska and California, last year was not a big fire year. The Rocky Mountains were very wet and had one of the quietest fire seasons on record. The constant climate fraud from the New York Times gives me something to write about almost every single day.

  1. It’s not surprising that ten times more forest burned before Europeans arrived and felled much of the forest to open up agricultural lands. America today also possesses the technology to fight forest fires. So your comparison, to put it politely, is based on a false equivalence that is so blatant you really should be embarrassed. It’s also surprising that you accuse Scientific American of ‘fraud’ when every article references the scientific studies relevant to them. Tell the truth, Steve, you couldn’t understand one of those studies if your life depended on it.

    • Jason Calley says:

Raymond, you apparently have problems with reading for comprehension. The New York Times says that last year was a record year. Steven presents documents showing that it was NOT a record year. One of the documents was an article from the same New York Times contradicting their current claim. Another was a chart from the US Forest Service showing past years with almost five times the acreage burned. The last document was from the National Interagency Fire Center reporting that in the past annual burns consumed about 12 times as much acreage.

I ask you the simple question: is the New York Times now lying rather egregiously when they claim that 2015 was a record?

What don’t you understand about this, you moronic idiot !!

    • RAH says:

Must have been taught liberal revisionist history. Notice that he equates the 1930s with a time “before Europeans arrived and felled much of the forest to open up agricultural lands.”

    • Andy DC says:

1937 was before the Europeans arrived? Before the fire hose was invented? That was the purpose of the post, to show fire acreage burned in 1937 compared to today, not 1550 compared to today.

The fact of the matter is that the NY Times told a blatant lie about worst fire season on record. If they had told the truth, but then stated that fire fighting today is better than it was in 1937, I would be fine with that. But instead they chose to create scary, untruthful propaganda rather than intelligently and factually reporting the news.

      • R Shearer says:

Exactly right; reforestation in the US exceeds deforestation since at least the 1960’s.

        • RAH says:

Rush Limbaugh has said many times that there are actually more trees in the US now than when the Pilgrims arrived. He is probably correct but most of them sure aren’t the old growth deciduous types that that abounded back then but instead the smaller and faster growing coniferous pines as are grown at tree farms for pulp and construction. Any one that has bought hardwoods over the last few years knows that good native types are very tough to come by. Heck they keep a special grove just to have a source for the Live Oak necessary to restore the USS Constitution periodically as is going on now.

I do know that here in Indiana there have been more whitetail deer found during the last two deer censuses than were found during the first one in the 1890s.

    • How can you average 14,000,000 acres burned in 2001 when 10,100,000 is a record high?

      • Jason Calley says:

They meant to say that the 10,100,00 acres was a record “in recent memory”. (With recent memory meaning “in the last year or so”.)

Seriously, don’t these buffoons have ANY sense of history?

  2. bleakhouses says:

Im in as lead counsel for the class action; do I have enough of you in NY to be plaintiffs to get me to class certification?

  3. Marvin L. Zinn says:

Why not? It is just like any advertising; the more then lie, the more they sell.

  4. Steve Case says:

Good job Mr. Heller. I look forward the the soon to appear retraction/correction from the Times.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

    • RAH says:

Look for it at the bottom of page 100.

    • Frank K. says:

Actually Steve, I for one won’t be looking for the New York Times to do anything. That’s because I don’t CARE what the NYT does – ever. In a few years, the old print media will no longer exist, and the extreme left wing journalists at the NYT will all have to go seek work from George Soros and his buddies.

  5. Climatism says:

Reblogged this on Climatism and commented:
What other climate related information does the New York Times blatantly lie to you about in order to advance their political, eco-fascist agenda?

  6. docfjs says:

The NYT has finally discovered the Theory of Everything. Climate Change explains everything, well at least everything bad. So there you go. Who needs String Theory. A Nobel to Lyin’ Al Gore and the Lyin’ NYT.

    • gator69 says:

It has been revealed (by climate models) that CO2 is the omnipotent God Particle.

      • RAH says:

Yea and it didn’t even take a super collider to find it. Just a relatively few paid buffoons assisted by an small army of wanna be paid buffoons, their computer models, temperature adjustments, a few tree rings, and dishonest “peer reviewers, and so called science journals.

The New York Times ain’t what she used to be. When a
telephone sales rep wanted to give me a sweetheart
deal on a Times subscription , I replied ” The Times is
    a yellow liberal rag, and I wouldn’t accept it as a gift!”.She
meekly replied ” well, a lot of people seem to feel that way”.
The Times is the advertising dept. for the Warmists.A friend
whose intellect I respect, told me that ,” when you have a
shitty product, the first thing you do, is DOUBLE the
advertising budget.” Expext the lies to increase as the truth
    keeps coming out.

  9. Causal ignition elements are 50% Human 50% natural. Human population significant growth since 1930 Storms minimal growth. Human activities causing fires are mainly accidental or deliberate no causal elements related to AGW.
