Real Climate Science

I attended a climate meeting yesterday at the University of Colorado. They said that most people are already highly traumatized by climate change, and that only 100 wind turbines could provide all of Boulders’ energy needs – which are currently met by this ultra-clean coal/gas fired power plant that many residents probably aren’t even aware of.

So, what they are proposing is this :

Of course they can’t get rid of the other power plant, because this week the wind only blew for a few hours.

So basically what they want to do is spend huge amounts of money to destroy the environment – and accomplish essentially nothing. The climate of Boulder isn’t changing.

I prepared these visual aids to help people understand mankind’s role in climate change.

In 1988, NASA’s James Hansen and Colorado Senator Tim Wirth sabotaged the air conditioner in a Senate hearing room in order to prove global warming.

And did you also alter the temperature in the hearing room that day?

… What we did it was went in the night before and opened all the windows, I will admit, right? So that the air conditioning wasn’t working inside the room and so when the, when the hearing occurred there was not only bliss, which is television cameras in double figures, but it was really hot. …  So Hansen’s giving this testimony, you’ve got these television cameras back there heating up the room, and the air conditioning in the room didn’t appear to work. So it was sort of a perfect collection of events that happened that day, with the wonderful Jim Hansen, who was wiping his brow at the witness table and giving this remarkable testimony.

Twenty years later, Hansen hoped for a repeat, but it was a nice cool day. Hansen said “We were just lucky”

As is normally the case, Hansen had absolutely no clue what he was talking about. 1988 was the peak year for hot days in DC, which have plummeted since.

The 99 degree temperature On June 23, 1988 was the hottest on record. Hansen’s second testimony in 2008 was a typical pleasant 85 degrees.

They no doubt scheduled the 1988 hearing based on the hot weather forecast, the hottest day of the month.

There was zero substance to Hansen’s testimony. A mixture of incompetence and fraud which is still the standard for all government climate science.

In 1993, sophisticated computer models predicted 8-10 degrees warming in the US by 2030.

Earth warmed from 1977 to 1991 after the PDO shift. There has been little or no net warming since, other than recovery from the Mt. Pinatubo cooling. Obama wanted his Paris CO2 deal, so he told NOAA to make the hiatus disappear. Tom Karl obliged, whistleblowers came forward, and now the fraudsters are panicking and trying to make the hiatus come back – thinking that will save them.

This date in 1930 brought 80 degree temperatures as far north as the New Jersey border, 70 degree weather to New York, and 60 degree weather to Massachusetts.

As CO2 has increased, the number of hurricanes hitting the US has plummeted.

During the late 19th century, the US averaged more than two hurricane strikes per year, but over the past decade has averaged less than one per year. Perhaps Exxon should get  a tax break for saving the climate?

Even Michael Mann is running away from Tom Karl’s disappearing hiatus fraud.

A dataset update from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, aimed at removing biases in the data, wiped out the “pause” — to much fanfare and controversy. “Newly corrected and updated global surface temperature data …. do not support the notion of a global warming ‘hiatus,’” the study found.

a group of top scientists has just published a paper in Nature Climate Change robustly defending the idea that, as they put it, “The observed rate of global surface warming since the turn of this century has been considerably less than the average simulated rate” produced by climate change models.

The authors include noted climate researchers Gerald Meehl of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Benjamin Santer of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Michael Mann of Penn State University. The research was led by John Fyfe of the Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis at the University of Victoria

This indicates to me that Representative Lamar Smith has some serious goods (whistleblowers) on Tom Karl’s fraud, and the co-fraudsters are trying to give themselves cover. I wonder if Admiral Titley will retract his fraudulent testimony made during the Cruz hearing?

In February 1980, Jimmy Carter was polling ahead of Ronald Reagan by a 2:1 margin, and Republicans were desperate to get rid of him and replace him with Jerry Ford.

So how did those polls work out?

In 2004, the University of Colorado showed 35 mm sea level rise from 1993 to 2003.

They now show 45 mm sea level rise during that same period, using the same data set.

The overlay showed how the University of Colorado has altered the data since 2004, to suit their funding needs.

They are not alone in this effort. The overlay below shows how NASA has similarly altered their tide gauge data, to hide the fact that sea level rise slowed dramatically after 1950.

In 1982, NASA showed 1 mm/year.  Now they claim 3.3 mm/year. They have more than tripled sea level rise by simply altering the data.

Eighty-six percent of tide gauges are below 3.2 mm/year.

NOAA says that sea level rise is only 1.7-1.8 mm per year – just over half of what CU/NASA claim.
