It has been cloudy all month in eastern end of the Northwest Passage, keeping the ice from melting. However the skies did clear up briefly on August 17, and showed that Reggie still has a lot of work to do to clear this 200 km stretch.

I asked my boss what the “www” stood for, and he said that it meant “world wide web”

I responded with something like “That sounds really stupid. Do I have to have that in my E-mail address?”

The winter of 1994-1995 was the year without a winter. We didn’t have a single cold day in Albuquerque that winter. I was 100% certain it was due to global warming.

I started my first programming class at ASU 40 years ago this week. There were about 400 people in the class, competing for the one computer on campus with all the other computer users.

That was the hottest summer on record in Phoenix (19 straight days over 110 degrees) and was at the peak of the ice age scare, right after Nixon resigned and not long after the worst tornado outbreak in US history.

I played on the ASU soccer team (club sport at that time) and we held practice at 3PM, typically in 104-107 degree temperatures. At midnight it was still 100 degrees, and we usually waited to play basketball in the parking lot until after midnight.

Dinner at the frat house was at 5PM, and we all gathered in the chapter house to watch Star Trek at 4PM. Everyone wanted to see which color of alien Kirk was going to “get his boots off” with this episode.

Fraternity New Row at ASU was an amazing place at that time – the center of life on campus. Progressives have completely wrecked the place since then, and now it looks more like Dresden after WWII.

Antarctica has record sea ice. The Arctic has seen a record gain in sea ice, and just had its first or second coldest summer on record.

Meanwhile, NCDC and NASA are trying to claim that Earth is having one of its hottest years ever.

Most of the glaciers in Antarctica were shrinking 100 years ago, during NASA’s coldest years ever.  At the time, climate experts didn’t lie about it though. They explained that the shrinking glaciers were due to the cold.

Strange to say, meteorologists argue that the diminution of ice indicates that the climate was formerly milder than now. Ice and snow only accumulate where there is occasional warmth with moisture and variations of temperature. A continuous dry cold does not favour the accumulation of ice and snow.
