James Hansen : ‘This is the last chance’

6/23/2008

“We see a tipping point occurring right before our eyes,” Hansen told the AP before the luncheon. “The Arctic is the first tipping point and it’s occurring exactly the way we said it would.”

Hansen, echoing work by other scientists, said that in five to 10 years, the Arctic will be free of sea ice in the summer.

The alarming loss of sea ice which has grown worse each summer over the past several decades, has taken a sharp turn for the worse: this year the loss is right in the middle, the most resilient part of the ice cover. This could lead to a completely ice-free Arctic Ocean by September.

Obama Plans Knockout Game For The US Economy

The administration itself says that its forthcoming emissions targets—and continuing staunch support for the war against “climate change”—are intended help to kick-start a virtuous competition among nations, spurred on by interest groups, hosts of non-government organizations, and the sprawling global network of United Nations organizations to push the faltering climate process away from the ditch of disinterest where it has increasingly been heading.

Profiling Is Illegal

It would be profiling to identify  knockout game perpetrators by race, so the press refers to them as teenagers. One might also think of them as potential purchasers of Skittles who look like sons of the president.

Perpetrators have dubbed the violent practice as the “knockout game,” where teens try to randomly knock out strangers with one punch.

In New York, police have charged Amrit Marajh, 28, with two felony hate crimes after they said he assaulted a 24-year-old Jewish man wearing a yarmulke Friday in Brooklyn, NYPD Sgt. Carlos Nieves said.

Twenty-eight year old teenager.

“There is safety in numbers,” she said. “And if you are by yourself, there is nothing wrong for you to decide to cross the street if you see a group of people walking toward you.”

The Conversion of a Climate-Change Skeptic – NYTimes.com

These are comments from his years as a skeptic.

“It is ironic if some people treat me as a traitor, since I was never a skeptic — only a scientific skeptic,” he said in a recent email exchange with The Huffington Post. “Some people called me a skeptic because in my best-seller ‘Physics for Future Presidents’ I had drawn attention to the numerous scientific errors in the movie ‘An Inconvenient Truth.’ But I never felt that pointing out mistakes qualified me to be called a climate skeptic.”

Richard Muller, Climate Researcher, Navigates The Volatile Line Between Science And Skepticism

December 17, 2003

“Let me be clear. My own reading of the literature and study of paleoclimate suggests strongly that carbon dioxide from burning of fossil fuels will prove to be the greatest pollutant of human history. It is likely to have severe and detrimental effects on global climate.” –

Louisiana Congressman Explains Dear Leader

President Obama has offered no solutions to help the millions of American families who are losing the good health care plans that they liked,” Scalise said.  “This hollow press conference was like a person who burned down your house, later showing up with an empty bucket and talking about how inadequate your house was before the fire.  President Obama blatantly misled the American people when he kept promising they could keep plans they liked even though he and his Administration knew three years ago that millions would lose their health care under this law.  It is time for President Obama to admit his broken health care law has failed, and join with House Republicans to suspend the penalties and stop this train wreck before it’s too late.”

1995 Australian Government Shock News : Squirrel Farts Worse Than Carbon Monoxide

The Canberra Times   22 July 1995

Animals to blame for warming: car expert

Research manager for the Federal Bureau of Transport and Communications Economics, Dr Leo Dobes, said his re- search had shown that cars had not contributed a disproportionate amount to green- house gases.

“You could say the motor car is not much better or worse … and not the big problem that everyone thinks,” he said.

He said animal gases, such as methane and nitrous oxide, had a far greater global warming potential than carbon monoxide emissions from fossil-fueled vehicles.
