This is a classic from the year 2000. The ice core data (turquoise line) shows recent temperatures cooling. They threw in a fake hockey stick in red at top of the graph without explanation, and used the same color for CO2 in the bottom graph. The graph is designed to confuse the reader into believing the opposite of what it shows.

The large increase in ice core CO2, corresponds with a decline in ice core temperatures.

The CIA was worried in 1974 that plummeting temperatures over the past 4,000 years were going to lead to a security threat for the US. I’m having a tough time seeing Mikey in that graph.

There have been 35 cyclones in the last 800 years which killed more than 10,000 people. Thirty-three of them occurred with CO2 below 350 PPM. The deadliest one in 1970 was blamed on global cooling at the time.

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Nov. 2.—The results of calm investigation have proved conclusively that so far from being exaggerated the first reports of the destruction wrought by the cyclone at St. Vincent were rather short of the actual facts. The island was literally swept absolutely bare of vegetation, the experience of 1780 being repeated, but the full extent of the devastation was not at first realized, owing to the difficulty of communication through the destruction of the roads and the coastal shipping.

The Governor of the Windward Islands has now sent out an appeal to the neighboring islands stating the facts, and asking that roots, slips, and seeds of potatoes, cassava, yams, peas, and ‘other economic plants be forwarded as soon as possible to enable cultivation to be restored. His Excellency declares in a brief but significant descriptive paragraph that the whole aspect of the landscape has been changed. Instead of the pervading green common to all tropical prospects, it is now a uniform dirty brown color, only relieved by long white poles—the decapitated columns of palm and cocoanut trees. Nothing in the way of vegetation escaped the sweep of the wind and the subsequent scouring out by the deluge of water, and the island is practically a desert.

Perhaps the most Impressive feature, the Governor adds, is the absolute stillness that prevails not only through the absence of the familiar rustle of vegetation as the trade wind sweeps over it, but-also because of the absence of animal and even insect life. Birds, lizards, beetles, snakes, and, in fact, every form of animal life, seems to have been blown away or drowned out.

Photographs of the Philippines storm show nothing resembling that level of damage, indicating once again that Jeff Masters is lying through his teeth.

I had an experience early in my adult life which shaped my view of intellectual diversity. My boss at Los Alamos National Labs was an older chemist and a WWII veteran who many thought was shell shocked. I thought he was nuts too, until almost all of his whacky ideas turned out to be correct.

Now I don’t judge smart people with whacky sounding ideas. I even believed in global warming for almost three decades.

I censor people for wasting time, refusing to process information, making personal attacks, obscenity and threats. But never for ideas that I don’t understand …. yet.

Science progresses because of people who dare to deviate. Censorship is for ideologues like Barack Obama, who don’t have the faintest clue how science works.

Too Much Information forms the basis of the climate propaganda machine.

A deadly flood or storm surge in Asia used to be page six news in the newspaper, if it made it all. Now it is 24×7 coverage on CNN. This makes people believe that the climate is spiraling out of control.

People used to be worried about Smallpox and drought and TB and Polio and flu and Pneumonia and not getting enough food to eat and childbirth – but now that they are comfortable and safe in their living rooms with an excess of everything, they imagine themselves to be endangered by far away weather events which have no impact on their lives.

The 1999 NASA version of US temperatures showed a sharp decline from the 1930’s to the 1990’s.

The next graph shows the current version in blue, and the 1999 version in red – normalized to 1998. They have dramatically cooled the past to create the false impression of a warming trend, and eliminate the hot 1930’s.
