The super-duper Arctic minimum of 2012 left nothing but thin, rotten, decayed, vulnerable ice. Enter the super-duper global warming Arctic amplification year of 2013, and you have super hot temperatures melting the super-thin ice.

The obvious result of all this is a 60% increase in Arctic ice.

“[An ice-free Arctic is] definitely coming, and coming sooner than we previously expected,“ Walt Meier, a glaciologist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md, told LiveScience last month. “We’re looking at when as opposed to if.”

I’m pretty sure that Walt is still peddling this nonsense out of Boulder, Colorado.

Not only has ice extent nearly returned to 1971 levels, but the bulk of the ice is perfectly situated to survive the winter.

Contrary to the blatant misinformation spread by alarmists, most of the ice volume loss from 1979-2007 was due to winter transport of older ice out the Arctic, rather than summer melt. That pattern has reversed in recent years, and the older thicker ice is making a significant comeback since 2009.
