The large mass of multi-year ice in the Beaufort Sea is getting pushed right into the rower’s planned path.
It reached 134 degrees Fahrenheit at Furnace Creek, Calif. on July 10, 1913 inside the present-day Death Valley National Park.
The 1913 record was nearly broken at the end of June 2013, when a major heat wave scorched the western U.S. A tentatively recorded temperature of 129 F at Death Valley
Hansen shows August global temperatures rapidly increasing since 1913, with 1913 being the coldest August of the century. (The summer of 1913 set the record for the world’s hottest temperature of 134F.)
Raw GHCN data shows that there has been no change in Wisconsin August temperatures since 1895, and that 1913 was warmer than 2012.
The R² correlation between Wisconsin August temperature and GISS global August temperature is almost zero (0.02.) The graph below shows the non-correlation visually.
Wisconsin is officially not part of the Earth!
The map below shows ice present in 2013 but not present in 2006 as green, and red shows the opposite. The patterns are very similar.
