The Picture Gets Clearer

Martin jumped Zimmerman, was standing over him pounding his face in and bashing his head against the pavement, and was screaming for help.

That makes sense. People pulverizing their opponent in a fight often scream for help.

NOAA Reports 7-13 Degrees Of UHI In Phoenix

A lot of hysteria this week from the usual scoundrels, about CO2 driven hot nighttime temperatures in Phoenix.

The National Weather Service reports that nighttime temperatures outside the metropolitan area are 7-13 degrees cooler (as anyone who lives there already knows)

The effects of the UHI are most pronounced during the summer (June-July-August) months. In a simple comparison, average high and low temperatures from Maricopa, AZ and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport were compared (Figures 2 and 3). Little difference exists between the high temperatures from 1961 through 2007; however, low temperatures have trended warmer at Sky Harbor as compared to Maricopa, indicative of the existence of a strengthening UHI. Similar results have been found by Brazel et al. (2000), who compared temperature observations at several urban stations in the PMA (Phoenix, Mesa, and Tempe) to a rural station outside the PMA (Sacaton). The average minimum May temperature at the urban locations displayed an apparent upward increase through the time series (1910 through 2000), which was attributed to the urban growth of the region. By the end of the series, there was a +4 to 7 ºC (7 to 13 ºF) difference between the urban minimum temperatures and the rural minimum temperatures.

Rower Delay

The animation below shows why the Canadian Archipelago rowers have delayed their launch.  On their advertised start date of July 1 the route was completely impassable. They have had a lucky break though, and between July 1 and July 4 southerly winds blew the ice 30 miles to the north, opening up a little bit of room for them.

US Intelligence Was “Clear” That Snowden Was On The Plane

Spain says it and other European countries were told that the NSAwhistleblower Edward Snowden was on board the Bolivian presidential plane that was diverted to Austria this week, causing a diplomatic row.

The foreign minister, José Manuel García-Margallo, said on Spanish National Television on Friday that “they told us that the information was clear, that he was inside“.

The minister did not say who supplied the information and declined to say whether he had been in contact with the United States. But he said European countries’ reactions were based on this information.

The Bolivian president, Evo Morales, claims the US pressured European countries to deny the plane flyover permission on Tuesday on suspicion that Snowden was using the flight as part of his bid to seek asylum.

The ObamaPravda press corpse is excited today over 7.6% unemployment!

In 2009, Obama pushed a trillion dollar stimulus bill through Congress, using this graph.

Obama’s crack economic team said that if Congress failed to pass the stimulus plan, unemployment would be 5.1% in Q3 2013.  So Congress passed the stimulus plan, and we got 7.6% unemployment in Q3 2013,  50% higher than if Congress did nothing.

The graph below shows Bureau of Labor reported unemployment in red.

Back In The USSR

My wife grew up in the USSR, and was granted asylum in the US shortly before the USSR collapsed.

She is not interested in politics at all, but was listening to the radio the other day and heard an ad from RIAA offering cash rewards to snitch on your neighbors for downloading music illegally.

Her jaw dropped and she said “I can’t believe they are doing this in the US. This is exactly how the KGB worked in the Soviet Union.
