One Sandy Hook Parent Which They Don’t Want You To Know About

Parents of children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School appeared before a subcommittee of the Connecticut Legislature on Monday to speak about gun control. While some used the platform to promote stricter firearms legislation, at least one parent became passionate, claiming that there are more than enough laws on the books, that current regulations simply need to be enforced and that the nation needs to embrace personal responsibility.

At one point Mattioli got so emotional during the the testimony that he had to move onto a new topic. He eventually went on to say that “we need common decency to prevail,” dismissing calls for greater gun control. Mattioli gave the specific example of Chicago, a city with tough gun laws, but one that continues to experience intense violence. He noted that gun laws did not protect the hundreds of people who died in that city last year.

UHI Has Huge Effects, But Is Unimportant

The latest from our crack scientists is that UHI has huge effects which extend thousands of miles, but they are too small to be adjusted for in the local temperature record.

Those who wonder why large parts of North America seem to be skipping winter have a new answer in addition to climate change: big city life.

A study, published in the journal Nature Climate Change, found that the heat thrown off by major metropolitan areas on America’s east coast caused winter warming across large areas of North America, thousands of miles away from those cities.

Winter warming was detected as far away as the Canadian prairies. In some remote areas, temperature rose by as much as 1 degree C (1.8F) under the influence of big cities, which produced changes in the jet stream and other atmospheric systems, the study found.

So the UHI effect is huge and massively alters the temperature record. At the same time, USHCN makes no correction for it – because it is unimportant.

no specific urban correction is applied in HCN version 2

USHCN only makes “corrections” which warm the present and cool the past. Corrections which go the other way are politically incorrect(ions)

It Is Starting

Not difficult to see where Obama is taking this country. He is getting the Army conditioned to conduct military operations inside the US.

Miami

Streets around the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts were closed Tuesday night by Miami-Dade police.

Officers in the area about 10 p.m. said the closure was because of an “event,” and that the streets would reopen in about an hour. It is possible that the event is connected to military training exercises.

Miami-Dade police sent out a warning Monday that multiple police agencies would provide support for a joint military training exercise somewhere over Miami and elsewhere in the county. The exercise was to include the use of military helicopters.

Houston

SkyEye 13 HD was over the south side where at first look, it appears there’s a massive SWAT scene happening.

People have been calling police, as well as our newsroom, saying they’re hearing gunshots in the area of Scott and Airport. It turns out, the Army says, it’s a multi-agency training drill. They’re doing it at the old Carnegie High School.

Helicopters were also involved. The Army isn’t giving any details of what the training is about.
