D.C. police are investigating whether a man will face criminal charges for shooting a pit bull that was attacking a child in his neighborhood.

The incident unfolded Sunday afternoon, after three pit bulls attacked an 11-year-old boy as he rode his bicycle through the Brightwood neighborhood of Northwest, according to a police report.

When the man, a neighbor, saw the boy being mauled by the dogs, he went inside his home and got a gun. The man killed one of the dogs.

He was bragging today that New York has lowered its carbon footprint. Keeping the electricity off in Rockaway is a crime.  My grandmother lived there for 70 years – until two weeks before Sandy hit.

New York had an unscheduled Earth Hour for several weeks in October. They met and exceeded Bloomberg’s carbon reduction targets that month.

Last winter was the third most extreme winter in northeast US history according to NOAA, due to 80+ days of mild, pleasant weather.

This winter, Gaia is giving them a break from the extreme weather – by sending lots of snow and bitter cold air. People in the region are very relieved to not have to survive a repeat of golfing in February.
