Brazilians Ramires, Luiz To The NFL

If Chelsea was an NFL team, they would have six points now from two wonderful field goals by Ramires and Luiz. Ramires cleared the bar by a good 30 feet.

Global warming can bring heavy snow, light snow or no snow.

Used to be, New England winters were big snow years or low snow years — but never no snow years. The New England skier was not raised to consider snow an unreliable occurrence.

But after a winter with little more than trace amounts of snow, which followed a winter of record snowfalls, it is hard to have clear expectations as ski season begins.

12 Straight Months Of Above Normal Antarctic Sea Ice

Today marks 365 consecutive days of above normal Antarctic sea ice. According to climate geniuses Jeff Masters and Bill McKitten, the odds against this are an astronomical 2^365 to one.

A few weeks ago, NSIDC featured an article explaining how declining sea ice cover threatens Penguins. Apparently they forgot to check the data before publishing that article.

Saskatchewan Breaking All Snowfall Records

With a little under a month to go before the “official” start of winter, the city of Regina, Saskatchewan, has already broken records for its snowiest November.
At a few days shy of December, the city has received between 55 and 70 cm of snow for the entire month of November, depending on the location.
That’s more than the 1941 November record of 53 cm. The historical average for November is around 14 cm.
“It’s roughly half of what Regina gets the whole winter,” Weather Network meteorologist Mark Robinson says
This is the exact opposite of what the IPCC forecazst

London To Drown : Rahmstorf’s Nature Trick

Global warming study warns sea levels are rising far faster than we thought | Mail Online

Looks like Rahmstorf used the 1990 IPCC projections (before they went alarmist)  for his baseline to compare against the satellite data, offset the y-axis of the satellite data – and used the completely inappropriate GIA adjustment.

The key thing to note is that the satellite trend is not as steep as the pre-1985 tide gauge trend.

What a scumbag.

Met Office 2004 : Warm February Weather “directly attributable to global warming”

10 February 2004

Record-breaking temperatures for February in the UK are directly attributable to global warming, according to the Met Office.

On the night of 3rd – 4th February, the CET (Central England Temperature) minimum temperature was 11.2 degrees C, beating the previous February figure of 10.3 degrees C. On the 4th February the average temperature was recorded at 12.5 degree C, beating the previous high of 12.0 degrees C.

The record highs came just two weeks after the so-called ‘big freeze’, during which most of the country experienced snow.

Global warming in action – Met Office

Since then, we have learned that cold weather is also caused by global warming.

Back To The Future

Twelve years later, snow is no longer a thing of the past.

After the wind, rain and floods Britain braces for snow as forecasters predict coldest winter for 100 years – Home News – UK – The Independent

Top scientists are telling us this week that global warming is much worse than they predicted a decade ago, which can be clearly seen in their forecast from the year 2000.

David Parker, at the Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research in Berkshire, says ultimately, British children could have only virtual experience of snow. Via the internet, they might wonder at polar scenes – or eventually “feel” virtual cold.

Science Vs. Scientists

The goal of science is to find out how things work.

A few people are fortunate enough to be able to make a living that way, but for the most part scientists are caught up in the search for ways to keep their grant money coming in. This means generating sciency sounding papers which have results that please the funding agency.

If any actual science gets done in the process, that is purely coincidental for most people who call themselves scientists.
