The science moron term for the week is “ice-free Arctic summers this decade”
Meteorological summer is June to August. The average ice-extent during that period this year was about 2/3 the size of the United States. The minimum extent was about seven times the size of Texas, with much of the remaining ice more than three metres thick.. The peak ice extent was larger than the US.
Ice-free summers are not going to happen. People shouldn’t get paid to be idiots.
There were extremely few tornadoes and hurricanes in the US. We are soon headed into our eighth year without a major hurricane, the longest such period since the Civil War.
This past summer was also the quietest on record for tornadoes.
I drove across Colorado twice, on two different roads this weekend – and did not see any fire damage. Driving up I-25 past Colorado Springs I strained to see the Waldo Canyon Fire, and couldn’t find it. I couldn’t see any fire damage near the Air Force Academy, and there have been very few fires here in Colorado over the last three months.
Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects. They concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting arctic rivers, might create problems far greater than those they solve. But the scientists see few signs that government leaders anywhere are even prepared to take the simple measures of stockpiling food or of introducing the variables of climatic uncertainty into economic projections of future food supplies. The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality.
Looks like the coldest El Nino on record. Just a week or two ago, the usual crop of suspects were predicting record warmth in 2013 – because of El Nino.

It doesn’t take a scientist to understand the connection between climate change and forest fires. Last spring was hot and dry, which resulted in a dry forest that easily burns. This should not surprise us. What is surprising is the pace of climate change and the damage it has already caused to our forests and communities.
The previous spring had record snow in Colorado. Some years are warm, other years are cold.

Earth to Bob, Lodgepole Pine forests can’t exist without fire. The seeds only germinate during crown fires. 100 years of fire suppression is making the forests unhealthy.
Why is the weather so calm in Arizona, and so stormy in the Arctic?
According to numb-nuts brain-damaged alarmists, this is because “more energy in the system” produces stronger storms.
I just took the pictures below in an area north of Los Alamos which was completely wiped out by fire 12 years ago. Prior to the fire, it was overgrown, sickly pine forest, caused by 70 years of fire suppression. Now it is full of life and color, thanks to the fire.
