Scambos said the new ice data is “a contradiction” to Hansen’s prediction, but he said Hansen’s assessment was done in the early 1980s.

“We would not be doing our job very well if we had not learned something in 30 years,” he said.

I drove down to New Mexico to see my parents yesterday, and took a couple of short hikes with my little buddies on the way. Temperatures were about 30 degrees warmer on the other side of the Front Range.

Today I am going to hike with my dad through the burn area from the 2010 Los Alamos fire. I will post pictures later showing how fire restores the forest, and why my little climate wrecking mutts have higher IQs than climate alarmists.

USHCN deleted their monthly data last week, and apparently are making a transition from version 2.0 to 2.5. My guess about this surprise move is that they are going to make past “raw” data colder, and current “raw” data warmer. This will make their massive adjustments appear smaller.

It will be easy enough to test this, as I have local copies of their old raw data, and will be able to do a direct comparison.

NOAA apparently determined in March that 2012 would be the hottest year ever in the US, but the weather is making their job tougher.

So far this year, USHCN has had to add more than three degrees on to raw temperatures relative to 100 years ago, to keep their mandate alive.

Low-lying island nations threatened by rising sea levels this century could see the disastrous consequences of climate change far sooner than expected, according to one of the world’s leading climate scientists.

In the wake of last month’s discovery that the extent of Arctic sea ice coverage hit a record low this year, climate scientist Michael Mann told the Guardian that “Island nations that have considered the possibility of evacuation at some point, like Tuvalu, may have to be contending those sort of decisions within the matter of a decade or so.”
