Idiotic comments about Arctic melt are based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how sea ice works. Arctic ice comes and goes every year. All of the ice melts sooner or later, and gets replaced by new ice. That is why the ice is never much more than five years old.
From 1988 to 1996, most of the old, thick ice blew out into the North Atlantic and melted. This set the stage for the decline in average extent over the last fifteen years, which has become a religious icon for the terminally dense. If winter weather patterns become conducive to retaining sea ice, then we will likely see an increase in average extent.

DENVER — The slowest economic recovery since World War II is going especially slow for sections of Colorado, according to a letter from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) obtained by The Colorado Observer.
In seven counties in Colorado unemployed individuals are close to or exceeding 20% of the population, a letter from the Chief Economist of CDLE to the U.S. Department of Agriculture says.
The letter, obtained through the Colorado Open Records Act, was sent August 29 as required by federal law. According to the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act, the Colorado Labor Department is required to certify counties where the “Not Employed Rate” surpasses 19.5%.

September followed in with a 10-15 day cool period, meaning the month will turn out normal to below in the Ohio valley

Summers on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard are now warmer than at any other time in the last 1,800 years, including during medieval times when parts of the northern hemisphere were as hot as, or hotter, than today, according to a new study in the journal Geology.
Researchers produced the 1,800 year climate record by analyzing levels of unsaturated fats in algae buried in the sediments of Kongressvatnet lake, in western Svalbard.

This is the reverse of Michael Mann’s approach. Mann threw out proxy data which he didn’t like, and replaced it with Hansen’s adjusted thermometer data. In this case, the researchers ignored the thermometer data, and replaced it with proxy data.
