There is more sea ice around Antarctica than in the Arctic, and it is all at lower latitudes than in the Arctic – so it reflects a lot more sunlight back into space. The whole point of alarmists being hysterical about September Arctic ice loss is the albedo feedback (as if there was actually any sunshine at the North Pole in September) – but the negative feedback around Antarctica is probably larger than any Arctic effects. Missing Arctic ice in the autumn also allows more LW radiative loss into space.

Additionally, NSIDC reports ice loss or gain as a percentage rather than absolute numbers – which conveniently hides the incline in Antarctica.

Norway police ‘could have stopped Breivik sooner’

The maximum temperature in Altus, OK yesterday was 102F, eighteen degrees cooler than the same date in 1936. Experts tells that 2012 is the hottest year ever in the US.

There are no more 100 degree days in the forecast for Altus.

NASA – Satellites See Unprecedented Greenland Ice Sheet Surface Melt

NASA recently told us that the entire Greenland ice sheet melted and turned red hot, right as a big snowstorm set in. The storm has cleared and we can plainly see that the ice indeed melted away at -19C.

In NASA speak, unprecedented means happens every 152 years right on schedule.

Last week, NOAA and Hansen told us that the heat in the eastern US could only be caused by a climate heating out of control. Two days later, record cold set in over the eastern US.

Global warming is here to stay

Excuse me, folks, but the weather is trying to tell us something. Listen carefully, and you can almost hear a parched, raspy voice whispering, “What part of ‘hottest month ever’ do you people not understand?”

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, July was indeed the hottest month in the contiguous United States since record-keeping began more than a century ago. That distinction was previously held by July 1936, which came at the height of the Dust Bowl calamity that devastated the American heartland.
