Climate scientists’ theories, flawed as they are, ignore some fundamental data.

Ocean temperatures have only been measured properly since 2003 when the Argo program became operational. Some 3000 Argo buoys roam the oceans, measuring temperatures on each 10-day dive into the depths. Before Argo, we used sporadic sampling with buckets and diving darts along a few commercial shipping lanes. But these measurements have such massively high uncertainties as to be useless. Since Argo started, the ocean temperatures have been flat, no warming at all.

The assumed temperature amplification due to changes in humidity and clouds exhibits itself in all the models as prominent warming about 10 kilometres up over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmospheric warming pattern since the 1960s using weather balloons, released twice a day from 900 locations around the planet, many millions of them in total, and no such ”hot spot” has been detected. This is direct observational proof that the amplification is missing.

The climate models predict that the outgoing radiation from the earth decreases in the weeks following a rise in the surface temperature, due to aggressive heat-trapping by extra humidity. But analysis of the outgoing radiation measured by NASA satellites for the last two decades shows the opposite occurs: the earth gives off more heat after the surface temperature rises. Again, this suggests that the amplification assumed in the models simply does not occur in reality.

Government climate scientists tend to excuse away these failings, often blaming unmeasured aerosols whose effects are only dimly understood. These excuses wear ever thinner as the CO2 level continues to rise but the temperature plateau of the last 12 years persists.  There are huge vested interests in the theory of man-made climate change. They will soon have to face up to the fact that they have been unwittingly relying on assumed amplification by humidity for most of the predicted temperature increases, and that the amplification is not there in reality.

Dr David M. W. Evans is a mathematician and engineer who consulted full-time for the Australian Greenhouse Office (now the Department of Climate Change) from 1999 to 2005. He says he changed from being a warmist to a sceptic after ”evidence supporting the idea that CO2 emissions were the main cause of global warming reversed itself from 1998 to 2006”.

 Americans who win bronze will pay a $2 tax on the medal itself. But the bronze comes with a modest prize—$10,000 as an honorarium for devoting your entire life to being the third best athlete on the planet in your chosen discipline. And the IRS will take $3,500 of that, thank you very much.

There are also prizes that accompany each medal: $25,000 for gold, $15,000 for silver, and $10,000 for bronze.

Silver medalists will owe $5,385. You win a gold? Timothy Geithner will be standing there with his hand out for $8,986.

So as of this writing, swimmer Missy Franklin—who’s a high school student—is already on the hook for almost $14,000. By the time she’s done in the pool, her tab could be much higher. (That is, unless she has to decline the prize money to placate the NCAA—the only organization in America whose nuttiness rivals the IRS.)

ATR notes that the real twist of the knife is that most other Olympians won’t pay any taxes on their medals because America is one of only a handful of countries which taxes “worldwide” prize income earned overseas.

And the answer is no. Not even close.

August 12, 1936 averaged 112.2 at all of the USHCN stations in Oklahoma. Today averaged 109.5 at all of the Weather Underground stations in Oklahoma.

1936 was almost three degrees hotter. In 1936, there were eleven stations hotter than the hottest today.

Our sea level friends tripled the rate of historical sea level rise over the last twenty years, without any data indicating that anything had changed.

The 1990 IPCC report reported a range of 1.0 to 1.7 mm per year and no evidence of acceleration during the 20th century.

That wasn’t very alarming, so a few years later they bumped the numbers up to 15 cm of sea level rise between 1900 and 1980

That wasn’t alarming enough either, so they bumped the numbers up to 3.1 mm per year, almost triple the 1990 number – without any evidence that sea level rise had accelerated.

This is typical of the fraudulent activity going on in the climate community.

The 1990 IPCC report included the graph below, which showed that Greenland warmed 2C from 1920 to 1935, and then cooled for the next fifty years back to the level of the 1920s.

CO2 rose much faster during the fifty year cooling period than it did during the fifteen year warming period.

In 1988, Hansen forecast that parts of Manhattan would be underwater by now, and that crime would greatly increase due to global warming.

He got the second part right. Fraud, data tampering and forgery are the new normal in global warming research.

Dems are busy today on Capitol Hill claiming that forest fires in Colorado prove climate change. Just a couple minor problems with that theory.

There are no fires of any significance burning in Colorado, and nationally there has only been one year with fewer fires since 2003.

Fort Collins is greener today than I have ever seen it at the start of August, after several weeks of steady rain.
