Researchers at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution have found that melting sea ice could lead to dramatic declines in populations of emperor penguins.

Had anyone involved with the newspaper or the study actually done any research, they would have know that sea ice is increasing in Antarctica.
Like the West Side Highway in Manhattan, the peer review process in climate science had drowned by the year 2008.
A new article in Nature claims that sea level is rising much faster in the Northeastern US than on the rest of the planet.
WASHINGTON — From Cape Hatteras, N.C., to just north of Boston, sea levels are rising much faster than around the globe, putting one of the world’s most costly coasts in danger of flooding, government researchers report.
U.S. Geological Survey scientists call the 600-mile swath a “hot spot” for climbing sea levels caused by global warming. Along the region, the Atlantic Ocean has risen at an annual rate three to four times faster than the global average since 1990, according to the study published Sunday in the journal Nature Climate Change.

Had anyone with half a brain peer-reviewed this paper, they would have looked at the satellite data and realized that there has been little or no sea level rise in that region over the last decade. Much of the rise in sea level which the authors think they are seeing, is actually due to subsidence of the land.

A report published in the New Scientist magazine has found the average number of days of snow in the Swiss Alps is lower than ever before. CSIRO climate change expert Dr Penny Whetton says Australia’s mountain snow cover could be reduced by up to 54 per cent by 2020. “The probability of any precipitation falling as snow rather than rain is going to decrease, and any snow lying on the ground is going to melt more quickly,” she said. “So the outcome of that is, there’s going to be shorter snow seasons, not as much depth of snow on the ground

On the evening of Sunday, 17 August 1980 Lindy Chamberlain was an innocent, 32 year old mother of two boys, and a girl – Aidan, 6, Reagan, 4, and nine-week-and-four-day-old Azaria. Lindy wanted all of her children to have names with strong meanings, choosing Azaria because the book of baby names she found it in said it meant ‘Blessed of God’. It was exactly how she felt finally getting the daughter she had so badly wanted.
The family was staying in the public campground at Ayers Rock (now Uluru). Before the night was over her daughter was to disappear from the tent where she was sleeping. Lindy had seen a dingo coming out of the tent, and when she checked on her daughter, found her gone. There were dingo prints leading into the cold desert night and blood in the tent. But by morning, people who had not been with Lindy comforting her, or searching on that night, were already spreading wild, untrue rumours. Of sacrifice, murder, dingoes not being capable, and of weird behaviour.
There was never a question of the events and evidence on the part of the eyewitnesses – none of whom had met the Chamberlains before – or the rangers, trackers, and police first on the scene. It was a natural tragedy that the head Ranger had warned his government of some time earlier. The first Coroner’s Inquest confirmed that a dingo had killed Azaria. That verdict was later overturned, and Lindy was to spend the next seven years living a nightmare – nearly three of them in prison – before finally managing to prove her innocence, and receiving complete exoneration – a first for Australian justice.
Paul Homewood has captured four different versions of Alice Springs temperature from the GISS web site – so far this year. I made an animation of the images he captured. -all at the same scale and axis registration. The changes in temperatures, trends, absolute values curvature, etc. show us that Hansen’s data is a completely worthless altered mess.

Just when we started getting some respect and finally hit 100 degrees this afternoon (for about 10 minutes) the rain came. I was standing outside watching the glow of the fire about 20 minutes ago when the rain arrived. A few minutes later the glow was gone.
The increase in humidity and rain should help the firefighters out. This past week was a firefighters nightmare of high temperatures, high winds and very low humidity.

Here are some of the facts regarding the unprecedented and devastating flooding event that took place this week in Duluth. A cold front sparked slow-moving thunderstorms that repeatedly moved over the Duluth area between June 17-19, dumping between 8 and 10 inches of rain in a 24-to 36-hour period on Duluth and neighboring communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. An all-time record 24-hour rainfall was set in Duluth, with 7.24 inches of rain falling during that period. The rainfall came during an already wet month in Minnesota, as the state rapidly lurched from drought conditions during the spring to suddenly having a precipitation surplus.

Temperatures were normal or below on the 19th and 20th – the days when the rain fell. The rain was triggered by cold air, not global warming.
The graph below shows all three inch rain events at Duluth, including the two last week. There was an 8.3 inch rainfall in one day in 1990, more than the sum of the two days last week.
In 1978 there was a 5.6 inch rainfall, more than either day last week. 1978 was one of the coldest years in Minnesota history. As usual, Heidi is just spreading propaganda.

Rarely has an alarmist handed us such a big gift, as John Cook did this week. His graph below shows that reductions in the most potent greenhouse gases CFC, CH4 and N2O have been close to the level of Hansen’s Scenario C.

So what exactly was Scenario C? In his 1988 paper, Hansen wrote
scenario C assumes a rapid curtailment of trace gas emissions, such that the net climate forcing ceases to increase after the year 2000.
What Cook is implying is that we have done a phenomenal job of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and have nearly achieved Hansen’s scenario C state of no new forcings. We have already accomplished far beyond the requirements of Kyoto, or anything they dreamed up in Copenhagen or Cancun.
But it is better than it seems, because Cook also shows that temperatures are already below Scenario C. Mission accomplished! Time for climate alarmists to declare victory and move on.

From 1992 through 2004, sea level rose at 3.55 mm/year, according to the University of Colorado. From 2005 to 2012, the same data set shows 1.81 mm/year. If sea level continues to rise at the current rate, we will see sixteen centimeters of sea level rise by the end of the century, which is perhaps one tenth of what the experts are claiming this week.
Government funded global warming research is propaganda. It has nothing to do with science.

The graph above plots all thirty days when Omaha, Nebraska has hit 110F. Twenty two of those days occurred during the 1930s, and all occurred below 350 ppm. Hansen claimed that last summer’s heat in Oklahoma was impossible without man-made CO2, but once again it is clear that he has absolutely no clue what he is talking about.
