According to Richard Black of the BBC, global warming is soon to be a $100 billion per year industry. This money pays for and drives the direction of the science.

The press corps(e) drones on endlessly about tiny amounts of imagined big oil money – yet refuses to discuss the scientific corruption caused by unimaginably large amounts of big government money, big bank money, big insurance money, …. etc.

The message for scientists is simple. Give us the answer we are looking for, and we will pay you. Give us the wrong answer and we will fire you. Journalists won’t touch this because they are on same payola scheme.

Right after Obama was elected, Bank Of America was given $45 billion as part of TARP – almost $1000 per taxpayer. Now they are investing $50 billion in global warming.

Bank of America Corp. (BAC) said it will contribute $50 billion over the next 10 years to address climate change, the latest company to boost its investments toward environmental goals.  The new set of goals will be effective on Jan. 1, following the anticipated completion of the bank’s current 10-year pledge of $20 billion, which it said is four years ahead of schedule.

“Environmental business delivers value to our clients, return for our shareholders, and helps strengthen the economy,” said Chief Executive Brian Moynihan. “We met our prior goal in about half the time we set for ourselves, so more than doubling our target is ambitious but achievable.”

As of 2006, Hansen was showing that Australia’s hottest year was 1914, and that current temperatures are about the same as they were during the 1880s.

This does not mean that dry ice will accumulate, because the low partial pressure of CO2 in the air means that frozen CO2 molecules will sublimate at an average rate as fast as they can freeze.

A tip by Juergen Uhlemann led me to this. As of 2006, Hansen showed that essentially all Arctic warming occurred prior to 1940, with a dip during the 1970s.

Hansen’s original data agreed with the newspaper reports I have been printing. What happened since 2006 to change the data?

In theory at least Oregon State University (OSU) seems to be a bastion of academic freedom, diversity, and tolerance.  A wide range of ideas are openly discussed.  The most viable rise to the top and the least viable fade away.  But it is all a fairy tale, because OSU operates under a politically correct regimen that dictates what is acceptable to say and what is not. Transgressors who dare to be different are eventually weeded out so that the campus maintains its ideological purity.

OSU is not yet as swift or efficient as the Soviet system when Joseph Stalin was trying to quash dissent among biologists who refused to go along with Trofim Lysenko.  If warnings to compromise their integrity were not followed, Stalin simply had biologists shot.  That quickly thinned the ranks of all biologists and persuaded the remaining ones to comply with Stalin’s wishes.  Of course, it also destroyed Soviet biology, because Lysenko was pedaling nonsense.  And Russian biology has never recovered.

We learned over the weekend that chemist Nickolas Drapela, PhD has been summarily fired from his position as a “Senior Instructor” in the Department of Chemistry.  The department chairman Richard Carter told him that he was fired but would not provide any reason.  Subsequent attempts to extract a reason from the OSU administration have been stonewalled.  Drapela appears to have been highly competent and well-liked by his students.  Some have even taken up the fight to have him reinstated.

New research by a team of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory scientists and international collaborators shows that the observed ocean warming over the last 50 years is consistent with climate models only if the models include the impacts of observed increases in greenhouse gas during the 20th century.

Nice circular logic. They build a model which assumes that warming is caused by man-made CO2, then use the model as proof that the assumed warming is caused by man-made CO2.

Instead of fixing the model to reflect reality, these geniuses have chosen to alter reality to reflect the model.

Every nation is agreed that we should limit temperature rise and that the long-term future should be powered by abundant and inexpensive renewables, nuclear or CCS. But that doesn’t make it any easier or cheaper to leave the fossil fuels in the ground in the meantime – which is the only thing that matters to the climate.

Actually, fossil fuels are the only thing which matter to neurotic left-wing journalists who lack a basic understanding of science.

The two graphs below show what temperatures used to look like in the US and Iceland, before they were tampered with at GISS. The 1930s was the hottest decade, and temperatures were declining. This disproved Hansen’s theories, so he had to get rid of the graphs.

The blink comparators below show how Hansen got rid of those unwanted cooling trends.

Our lukewarm friends say that GISS data is all good, which means that the Earth is both warming and cooling at the same time.
