The Great Colonial Hurricane of 1635:

One such storm was known as the Great Colonial Hurricane of 1635, striking the Jamestown settlement and Massachusetts bay colony in that year. The storm had a storm track similar to the Great Atlantic hurricane of 1944 which was parallel to the coast.

The eye of the storm evidently passed between Plymouth and Boston, and winds were estimated at 140mph, a deadly Category 4 hurricane. In Narragansett bay the tide was 14 feet above the ordinary tide and drowned many native people. There was severe damage to houses along Plymouth with complete blowdowns in rural areas of Eastern Massachusetts.

The 1990 IPCC report contained the inconvenient graph above, which didn’t look anything like a hockey stick. Briffa’s trees didn’t look anything like a hockey stick either. Mikey had to get rid of the MWP, but this was going to require some hard work. How did he do it?

1. Trashed all the post 1960 tree ring data
2. Replaced the post-1960 tree ring data with Hansen’s altered Northern Hemisphere temperature data.
3. When you have seen one tree, you have seen Yamal
4. Declared the MWP to be local to Northern Europe and Greenland.

The first three were heinous enough to have automatically obtained an honorary football coaching position at PSU, but the third one is the topic for this post.

Climate models don’t produce localized warming – particularly not at high latitudes. The most fundamental tenet of “global warming” is polar amplification. Whatever the world is doing, the poles do it even more. Greenland is the canary in the coal mine. If Greenland is warming, so is the rest of the planet.

Hansen’s models predict consistent warming along land areas of equal latitude, and nearly symmetrical warming on opposite sides of the equator. The idea of a large magnitude localized warming in Greenland, which lasted for several centuries and missed most of the rest of the planet – is stupid beyond comprehension.

Vikings actively farmed Greenland 1000 years ago, but our top climate scientists say that current temperatures are much warmer. The growing season when the Vikings lived there must have been about 15 minutes.

Temperatures in Australia are “colder than a witch’s teat“

In 1922, the US Weather Bureau reported that the July 1917  mean temperature in Death Valley was 107.2 degrees.

USHCN now reports the mean temperature of July 1917 as 106.6.  They knocked more than half a degree off the measured temperatures.

Another interesting month is July 1913. The Weather Bureau reported that during the week of July 8-14, high temperatures averaged nearly 130 degrees.

USHCN reports that the average high temperature for July 1913 was only 113.6. The rest of the month must have been very cold to drag the average down that far.

But it is worse than it seems. USHCN knocked about three degrees off all measured maximum temperatures from 1911 through 1914.

The station at Death Valley was excellently sited and carefully monitored during that period, much better than most of the USHCN stations today. What is the USHCN rationale for this spectacular data tampering?

Apparently Hansen and Karl aren’t the first people to tamper with weather data.

Looking at the autumn weather report, it becomes clear why Hansen keeps incoherently mumbling something about Antarctica melting down.
