Given the failure of the prophesies about Manhattan drowning, ice caps melting, and temperatures rising, the church has come to rely on a select group of people who feel unbounded by history – and are willing to rewrite historical data to suit the needs of the church.

These brave and unselfish souls deserve recognition!

Nominee #1 NASA. Got rid of that nasty US cooling trend.

Nominee #2 NASA. Got rid of that nasty Northern Hemisphere cooling trend.

Nominee #3 Team Sea Level. Tripled sea level rise overnight.

Nominee #4 Michael Mann. Erased the Medieval Warm Period

Nominee #5 Phil Jones. Determined that the 1860s were cold, without any data for 90% of the planet.

Nominee #6 The Whole Team. They determined that extreme weather is increasing, without actually looking at any historical data.

In their open letter to the Prime Minister in April, 61 of the world’s leading experts modestly expressed their understanding of the science: “The study of global climate change is an ’emerging science,’ one that is perhaps the most complex ever tackled. It may be many years yet before we properly understand the Earth’s climate system.” It seems that liberal arts graduate Al Gore, political champion of the Kyoto Protocol, thinks he knows better.

Institut Pasteur (Paris) Professor Paul Reiter seemed to sum up the sentiments of many experts when he labelled the film “pure, mind-bending propaganda.” Such reactions should certainly cause Canadians to wonder if Nobel Prize-winning French novelist Andre Gide had a point when he advised, “Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it.”

“I can assure Mr. Gore that no one from the South Pacific islands has fled to New Zealand because of rising seas. In fact, if Gore consults the data, he will see it shows sea level falling in some parts of the Pacific.” — Dr. Chris de Freitas, climate scientist, associate professor, University of Auckland, N.Z.

At island retreat, Branson and friends seek to save a world ‘on fire‘

British Virgin Islands — Richard Branson was lounging under the starry midnight sky on this palm-dappled speck of an island recently when he popped a sobering question.

“So, do we really think the world is on fire?” Branson, the British magnate and adventurer, asked several guests, as a manservant scurried off to fetch him another glass of pinot grigio.

What he wanted to know was whether his high-powered visitors, among them Larry Page of Google, Jimmy Wales of Wikipedia and Tony Blair, the former British prime minister, thought global warming threatened the planet.

Branson does – and so did most of his guests. So on this recent weekend on his private hideaway in the crystalline waters between the islands of Tortola and Anegada, they tried to figure out what to do about it and perhaps get richer in the process.

If you wanted to get someone to kill themself, an effective way to do it would be to put an idea in their head that something they need for survival is very bad for them. For example, the belief that food was bad killed Karen Carpenter.

Al Gore, James Hansen and a few others are leading an effort to convince people that something else they need for survival – i.e. affordable energy – is very bad for them. If this form of mass mental illness is not stopped, it will eventually have very severe impacts on societal health.

I have to wonder what the real CO2 agenda is, because it has nothing to do with climate or weather.

“That’s the simple version of the story, but things look even worse when you dig into the details. For one thing, all that open water does re-freeze each winter, but it freezes into a relatively thin layer known as seasonal, or first-year ice. Because it’s so thin, first-year ice tends to melt back quickly the following season, giving the ocean a chance to warm things up even more in what National Snow and Ice Data Center director Mark Serreze has called a “death spiral” that could lead to ice-free Arctic summers by 2030.”

“But it’s worse than that, says a new analysis by scientists at the U.S. Army’s Cold Regions Research Laboratory in Hanover, N.H. “First-year ice is not just thinner, ” said Donald Perovich, lead author of a report in Geophysical Research Letters, in an interview. “We’re also beginning to realize it has other properties.” The most important: new ice is less reflective than old ice, for most of the year, anyway. It absorbs more heat from the Sun, which means it doesn’t just melt faster: it actually speeds up its own melting.”

The 1990 IPCC report was quite clear that there was a global MWP.

I propose a competition between California and Texas. California runs for one year completely off green energy, and Texas runs for one year completely off fossil fuels.

At the end of the year, we can see if there is anyone left in California, and if the people who emigrated away are still left wing morons.
