The US was hit by seven hurricanes during 1886, the largest one year total on record. Two of these storms were major hurricanes – both of which hit Texas .

By contrast, the US has not been hit by a major hurricane since 2005 – the longest such period on record.  The lack of major hurricanes is no doubt a direct result of man’s evil interference in the climate system.

Hansen tells us that 1886 was one of the coldest years on record. He also tells us that active hurricane seasons are caused by warm ocean water, and that several billion A-bombs worth of man-made heat have accumulated in the ocean since 1886.

In other words, Hansen is a completely incoherent, self-contradictory disaster of a scientist. That is why liberals cling to his every word, and why experts like Martin Hoerling are beginning to step forward and condemn his junk science.

There was a price to be paid for tampering with the temperature data. By cooling the past, Hansen’s whole story became incoherent.

I am 16 years old. This morning I filed a lawsuit against the United States of America, for allowing money to be more powerful than the survival of my generation, and for making decisions that threaten our right to a safe and healthy planet.

Our parents’ and grandparents’ generation have created a problem. They’ve developed a society that depends on burning fossil fuels, like coal and oil, to survive. They never realized that there were any huge consequences to running our lives with fossil fuels. But now, we do.

Our addiction to fossil fuels is messing up the perfect balance of nature and threatening the survival of my generation. If we continue to hide in denial and avoid taking action, my and I generation will be forced to grow up in a world where hurricanes as big as Katrina are normal, people die every year because of heat waves, droughts, and floods, and entire species of animals we’ve come to know disappear right before our eyes.

Not only is Bering Sea ice at a record high extent, but the water surrounding it for hundreds of miles is at near record low temperatures.

Human use of water contributes markedly to rising tides.

Climate change, with its associated melting ice caps and shrinking glaciers, is the usual suspect when it comes to explaining rising sea levels. But a recent study now shows that human water use has a major impact on sea-level change that has been overlooked.

During the latter half of the twentieth century, global sea level rose by about 1.8 millimetres per year, according to data from tide gauges. The combined contribution from heating of the oceans, which makes the water expand, along with melting of ice caps and glaciers, is estimated to be 1.1 millimetres per year, which leaves some 0.7 millimetres per year unaccounted for. This gap has been considered an important missing piece of the puzzle in estimates for past and current sea-level changes and for projections of future rises.

It now seems that the effects of human water use on land could fill that gap. A team of researchers reports in Nature Geoscience that land-based water storage could account for 0.77 millimetres per year, or 42%, of the observed sea-level rise between 1961 and 2003. Of that amount, the extraction of groundwater for irrigation and home and industrial use, with subsequent run-off to rivers and eventually to the oceans, represents the bulk of the contribution.

But it is worse than it seems. Much of the remaining claimed 1mm/year rise is due to subsidence caused by groundwater pumping, as well as gravity dragging the tide gauges down.

Our satellite friends recently tripled Envisat sea level rise to almost 3mm/year, to bring it in line with their other bogus trends.

Without the Y2K rewrite of the US temperature record, the US graph would look like this.

The graph above appends the last fourteen years of the current GISS US graph on to the uncorrupted 1999 version – with everything normalized to 1998.

Without the Y2K data tampering, the US would be cooler than the 1930s – and that would have severely damaged Hansen’s ability to keep the $100 billion/year scam alive.

Also note that without the tampering, the four hottest years in the US would have occurred before 1960.  By tampering with the data, Hansen has made an honest discussion about global warming nearly impossible.

Now that Suzanne Goldenberg has personally cleared Gleick of forgery charges, and demonstrated that his fraud and theft was for the good of the planet – will he be reinstated as AGU’s ethics officer?

James Hansen is considered the world’s leading expert on climate, because of his prodigious numbers of spectacularly failed forecasts. Few could aspire to such levels of incompetence, but for an up and coming climate scamster – how many failed forecasts are needed to become an expert?

Perhaps incompetence with statistics, data tampering, a complete lack of ethics, and refusal to debate are also required to be an expert?
