NZ Scientist : Warm Weather Is Climate. Cold Weather Is Just Weather

NZ can expect more big snowstorms

You might have had better luck selling ice to eskimos than peddling global warming theory on the streets of Wellington this week. After an almost unprecedented wall of snow and ice blasted its way up New Zealand to tickle the Bombay Hills, you could forgive the average frost-bitten person on the street for being a tad sceptical about our planet getting hotter.
At times like these, the inbox of James Renwick, principal climate scientist at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, fills up with emails from disbelievers who tell him – in slightly more colourful terms – to look out his window.

Freak weather occurrences, like the one-in-40-year storm that hit this week, actually offer no proof that the planet is getting colder or warmer, he says.

“When you look at the globe, New Zealand is a tiny little patch on the Earth and to try and relate what is going on here, in terms of temperature, to global change is really meaningless.

Norway Predator Tragedies

Norway suffered two tragedies during the last month involving predators killing teenagers. Both could have been avoided had the kids been properly trained in the use of rifles, and had rifles available.

$69.95 for the rifle. $0.25 each for the shells. I’d recommend another $5 for a shoulder pad. That is less than one dollar per life saved.

I wouldn’t go camping in the Arctic without a rifle within reach at all times.

Huntsman Hoping To Take The Republican Party Down Along With His Train Wreck Candidacy

Ticking off criticisms, Huntsman said Obama is too liberal and the Republican candidates are too far right and have “zero substance.” He described former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as a flip-flopper, who previously opposed a flat tax.

Huntsman, who’s lagging in national polls, saved his harshest criticism in a television interview for two of the candidates who are at the top of the 2012 pack — Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Chris Christie Warns That Palm Trees No Longer Grow In Antarctica

In vetoing a bill (S2946) that would have required New Jersey to stay in a regional program intended to curb greenhouse gases — a program Christie plans to leave by the end of the year — the governor said “climate change is real.”
