Jeff Masters … Massive Arctic Fail

August 12, 2011

Arctic sea ice poised to undergo record decline in mid-August
A strong high pressure system with a central pressure of 1035 mb has developed over the Arctic north of Alaska, and will bring clear skies and warm southerly winds to northeast Siberia and the Arctic during the coming week, accelerating Arctic sea ice loss. Widespread areas of northeastern Siberia are expected to see air temperatures 4 – 12°C (7 – 22°F) above average during the coming week, and the clockwise flow of air around the high pressure system centered north of Alaska will pump this warm air into the Arctic. Arctic sea ice extent, currently slightly higher than the record low values set in 2007, should fall to to its lowest extent for the date by the third week of August as the clear skies and warm southerly winds melt ice and push it away from the coast of Siberia. This weather pattern, known as the Arctic Dipole, was also responsible for the record sea ice loss in 2007, but was stronger that year.

It is now the end of third week of August, and extent has hardly changed since he made that forecast on August 12. Looks like a classic case of Dipolar Disorder to me.

Huntsman Points His Finger To Complain About Finger Pointing

Republican presidential candidate and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman took aim at Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s (R) criticisms of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke saying that Perry risks being dismissed by voters as someone not “serious on the issues.”

“Every time we have these sideshows take place, finger-pointing and name-calling. It takes us that much farther off the ball, which is fixing our core in this country, is getting our economy fixed and creating jobs,” added Huntsman.

Top Scientists Agree – Earth Is The Center Of The Universe

Aristotle and Ptolemy agreed.

All motion in the heavens is uniform circular motion.
The objects in the heavens are made from perfect material, and cannot change their intrinsic properties (e.g., their brightness).
The Earth is at the center of the Universe.
These ideas concerning uniform circular motion and epicycles were catalogued by Ptolemy in 150 A.D. His book was called the “Almagest” (literally, “The Greatest”), and this picture of the structure of the Solar System has come to be called the “Ptolemaic Universe”.

Bob Berwyn Shock News : Greenland To Be Ice Free in 22,000 Years

Global warming: Glacier meltdown in Greenland

Mittivakkat Glacier has been surveyed for mass balance and glacier front fluctuations since 1995 and 1931 respectively. In 2011 the glacier terminus has retreated about 22 metres, 12 metres less than the observed record of 34 metres in 2010, and approximately 1,300 metres in total since the first photographic observations in 1931.

http://summitcountyvoice.com/

The average retreat since 1931 is 16 metres per year. This year was slightly higher than average. If the glacier retreated 22 metres every year, Greenland would be ice free in only 20,000-30,000 years.
