Not to worry. Ehrlich said that we all starved to death in the previous decade.

Definition Of A Record Drought

Someone said it was a record drought. Then someone else repeated it. Then a bunch of other people repeated it.

Brilliant Scientists Predict What Is Already Observed

Scientists Predict Possible Ice Increase in Arctic

a new computer model suggests that changes in atmospheric conditions could slow and even halt the melting of ice in the Arctic. Scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) even believe that there could be a growing ice cover again, at least for some time.

I guess that is why it is called the “2007 record low.”

Houston Chronicle : All Scientific Progress Over The Past 100 Years Is Based On Global Warming Theory

Impressive non-sequitur

If the National Academy of Sciences and observed scientific data supporting global warming are wrong, doesn’t that call into question “the entire science discovery process that forms the foundation of a hundred years of America’s technological prominence”?

Apparently scientists are either always right or always wrong. There can be no middle ground.

“There are a hell of a lot more bears”

Shock news. Scientists who don’t know what they are talking about. The EPA doesn’t know what they are talking about.

The latest government survey of polar bears roaming the vast Arctic expanses of northern Quebec, Labrador and southern Baffin Island show the population of polar bears has jumped to 2,100 animals from around 800 in the mid-1980s.

As recently as three years ago, a less official count placed the number at 1,400.

The Inuit have always insisted the bears’ demise was greatly exaggerated by scientists doing projections based on fly-over counts, but their input was usually dismissed as the ramblings of self-interested hunters.

As Nunavut government biologist Mitch Taylor observed in a front-page story in the Nunatsiaq News last month, “the Inuit were right. There aren’t just a few more bears. There are a hell of a lot more bears.”

Green Jobs Are Obama’s Pipe Dream

In the Bay Area as in much of the country, the green economy is not proving to be the job-creation engine that many politicians envisioned. President Obama once pledged to create five million green jobs over 10 years. Gov. Jerry Brown promised 500,000 clean-technology jobs statewide by the end of the decade. But the results so far suggest such numbers are a pipe dream.

Rather than adding jobs, the study found, the sector actually lost 492 positions from 2003 to 2010 in the South Bay, where the unemployment rate in June was 10.5 percent.

Would You Hire This Climate Detective?

Scientists Link Somalia Famine To Global Warming

Somalia, East Africa – As millions of people struggle to survive a famine in East Africa, it’s hard not to ask whether anyone saw this disaster coming. Chris Funk, one of the leading researchers of rainfall in the region, would answer yes.

As a climate scientist based at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Funk is part of a team of researchers who studies weather in East Africa, where the lack of rain this year has caused tens of thousands of people to die, most of them children.

He said he thinks of himself as a “drought detective,” an analogy that captures the clue-gathering aspect of his work, if not the scale of the destruction he deals with. In more straightforward terms, he collects information about the climate from a variety of sources and uses it to try to identify the causes of droughts and make predictions about where and how droughts will strike in the future.

Some detective. The article below is from 1935, and took me almost half a minute to find.

The. country is financially poor. Practically the whole of its capital at present consists of stock, and periodically nearly one-third of this capital- is lost through drought
