Ice Free Arctic Forecasts

Scientists ranting about an ice free Arctic is a psychosis that has been going on for almost as long as there have been scientists.

NASA climate scientist Jay Zwally said: “At this rate, the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free at the end of summer by 2012, much faster than previous predictions.”

Because climate change in the Arctic region is occurring faster and to a greater extent than anywhere else, the Arctic Ocean may be ice-free for a short period of time as early as the summer of 2015, according to the 2009 Arctic Marine Shipping Assessment Report completed by the eight Arctic Council Nations.

Obama Brings Hope And Change To America

LAKEWOOD, N.J. –  While millions of Americans hold their collective breath as Wall Street wreaks havoc with their life savings and retirements, residents of Tent City, a tiny makeshift community about 70 miles south of New York City, have more immediate concerns: finding their next hot meal.

For this collective of homeless and unemployed former landscapers, service industry workers and military veterans, the mention of “tarp” is sure to start a conversation about temporary rooftops, rather than a debate over President Obama’s $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program.

At Tent City in Lakewood, N.J., very few are lucky enough to leave.

It seems like a scene straight from “The Grapes of Wrath,” but this is no Great Depression novel. This story takes place in 2011, and this New Jersey tent city is one of an untold number of such encampments across the United States, where unemployment has reached 9.3 percent and approximately 3.5 million people are likely to be homeless in a given year, according to the most recent estimates by the National Coalition for the Homeless.

The Monarchy

Earlier I posted a video of President Obama laughing while his friend called Rush Limbaugh a traitor as bad as Osama, and said she hoped he died in a very specific manner.

What would have happened had the roles been reversed?

Which Wise Man Said This?

Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

Global Warming In Ireland

Last December was the coldest on record in Ireland, as has been this summer. This proves conclusively that the earth is headed into an ice age.

December 24, 2010

This has been the coldest start to winter for the last 130 years, when records began. According to Met Eireann, Ireland’s meteorological service, December has officially been the coldest month ever on record.

Austin Is The New Moscow

Last summer, Moscow was the proxy for Earth. This year it is Austin!

The fact that it was 105 degrees in Austin [yesterday] makes it impossible to totally ignore the fact that something’s happening with the climate.

NCAR Can Distinguish Man-Made Melt From Natural Melt

“When you start looking at longer-term trends, 50 or 60 years, there’s no escaping the loss of ice in the summer,” Kay says.

Kay and her colleagues also ran computer simulations to answer a fundamental question: why did Arctic sea ice melt far more rapidly in the late 20th century than projected by computer models? By analyzing multiple realizations of the 20th century from a single climate model, they attribute approximately half the observed decline to human emissions of greenhouse gases, and the other half to climate variability.
