Steve Conner 2011 : “snowfalls are becoming less frequent in Britain”

So a headline saying that “snowfalls are now just a thing of the past” is not a scientific prediction or statement. It is a newspaper headline, and should be treated as an invitation to read the entire story, which in this case clearly pointed out that snowfalls are becoming less frequent in Britain. This is still the case even with the experience of having two snowy winters on the run.

Which explains why many cities in the UK have run out of grit the last three or four winters.

UK Plays Chicken With Europe

Cameron is depending on European leaders not being as spineless as he is.

David Cameron has moved to resolve a Cabinet row over the UK’s climate change targets, with an agreement on emissions to be announced on Tuesday.

This will see drastic cuts in greenhouse gas emissions to 2027 and an overhaul of the way energy is produced.

But ministers worried about the impact on the economy and burdens on industry have secured a get-out clause.

The targets will be reviewed if European nations backslide on their own climate commitments.

Even the PM is probably possibly hopefully intelligent enough to realize that government regulations do not generate electricity.

The Cabinet could save a lot of hassle by simply overturning the First Law of Thermodynamics.

975 Days

It has been 975 days since any hurricane made landfall in the US. The longest hurricane free period since before the Civil War.

Hansen Admits That His Climate Models Suck

And blames his failure on evil human pollution. He also promises that sea level rise will start accelerating really, really, really soon.

We conclude that most climate models mix heat too efficiently into the deep ocean and as a result underestimate the negative forcing by human-made aerosols. Aerosol climate forcing today is inferred to be -1.6 \pm 0.3 W/m2, implying substantial aerosol indirect climate forcing via cloud changes. Continued failure to quantify the specific origins of this large forcing is untenable, as knowledge of changing aerosol effects is needed to understand future climate change. A recent decrease in ocean heat uptake was caused by a delayed rebound effect from Mount Pinatubo aerosols and a deep prolonged solar minimum. Observed sea level rise during the Argo float era can readily be accounted for by thermal expansion of the ocean and ice melt, but the ascendency of ice melt leads us to anticipate a near-term acceleration in the rate of sea level rise.

Translation : we have no clue what we are doing, but we need to keep our reputations and funding going.

Apparently big Jim lacks access to the Internet, and can’t see that sea level rise rates have dropped dramatically over the last five years.

He should immediately send out an E-mail to all the people using climate models and to the press, and tell them not to trust the results. That would be the honest thing to do.

Top Scientists : We Weren’t Kidding When We Said Snow Is A Thing Of The Past

Why doesn’t anyone believe us any more? When we said hot and dry, obviously we meant cold and record snow. When we said lots of hurricanes, obviously we meant no hurricanes for three years.

Third Coldest April On Record In Nuuk, Greenland

World leaders are meeting in Nuuk, Greenland in yet another desperate attempt to frighten the world about global warming. Like in Copenhagen and Cancun, mother nature is trying to send them a message.

https://spreadsheets.google.com/

Atmospheric CO2 has rapidly increased over the 80 years, but temperatures in Greenland haven’t. April was the third coldest on record in the capital, Nuuk. The warmest temperatures there occurred more than 50 years ago.

The near record cold has continued into May.

Nuuk Meeting Fraud Begins

As forecast, the misinformation from the Hillary-Nuuk meeting is starting to spill out.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/

There is rarely if ever any sea ice around Nuuk (red circle below) this time of year. Sea ice around Greenland is right at the 30 year median.
