More UpDown

Temperatures may be going down this century, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t skyrocketing.

New Global Warming Concept – UpDown

Global warming alarmists and their allies in the media were ringing the alarm bells last summer after a study in the journal Nature claimed the global phytoplankton population had declined by 40% since 1950. The alarmists and their media allies aggressively focused attention on the study and made the additional assertion that global warming and carbon dioxide emissions must be to blame.

A just-released follow-up study in Nature, however, shows flaws in the original study and documents that the global phytoplankton population has risen, rather than fallen, over the past several decades.

Skyrocketing vs. Soaring

Obama is against soaring energy prices, but he is for skyrocketing energy prices.

Citing serious issues facing the country, including high unemployment, soaring gas prices and the challenge of reducing the deficit, he said Americans and their political leaders need to “come together in a bipartisan way and solve these problems.”

Them People Is So Much Smarter Than We Is

(CBS) Obama doesn’t have an American birth certificate, climate change isn’t real and evolution is a scientific fantasy. If a recent survey is any indication, you can add the widely disproved autism vaccine link to the pile of ideas Americans love to believe regardless of the research stacked against it.

What they mean by evolution, is that any change to the environment will cause a species to go extinct. Darwin called it survival of the pathetic. A tiny change in atmospheric chemistry or ocean pH is simply impossible to cope with.

No Aliens Found – SETI Goes Off Line

The hunt for extraterrestrial life just lost one of its best tools. The Allen Telescope Array (ATA), a field of radio dishes in rural northern California built to seek out transmissions from distant alien civilizations, has been shuttered, at least temporarily, as its operators scramble to find a way to continue to fund it.

In an April 22 letter to donors, Tom Pierson, CEO of the SETI Institute in Mountain View, Calif., explained that the ATA has been put into “hibernation,” meaning that “starting this week, the equipment is unavailable for normal observations and is being maintained in a safe state by a significantly reduced staff.” The ATA is a partnership between the SETI Institute, which is responsible for building the telescope array, and the University of California, Berkeley, which is responsible for operating it. Astronomer Franck Marchis, who is affiliated with both institutions, broke the news on his blog April 22.

My Flood Forecast

The Colorado River will flood this summer, Lake Powell water levels will go way up – and then the same people who are currently warning of drought will claim that they predicted the floods all along.

It took less than three minutes for me to produce this fake. It looks better than the original.

CO2 Is Responsible For Less Than 5% Of The Greenhouse Effect In The Mid-Latitudes

I did RRTM runs for 10,000 ppm H2O/330 ppm CO2, and then again with no CO2. Downwelling LW radiation dropped by less than 5% from 353 to 336 w/m^2.

Increasing CO2 to 560 ppm increased the greenhouse effect by about half a percent, from 353 to 355 w/m^2. This roughly translates to 1.4C warming (280K * 0.005) with a doubling of CO2.

However, the numbers are exaggerated because I did cloud free runs. If clouds were include, the effect of CO2 would be smaller.

“there is no scientific debate about global climate change. It’s happening”

Global warming demands action

Politics aside, there is no scientific debate about global climate change. It’s happening, and coastal regions face the greatest danger in years to come.

Three Years Later ….

http://maps.google.com/maps

Why did this take three years?

Obama released a legally binding “certificate of live birth” in 2008, but many opponents of the president continue to assert he was born overseas.

http://www.cnn.com

Three months ago the governor couldn’t find this very clean, new looking document.

Pressure was mounting on Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie today amid increasing confusion over whether President Obama was born there.

Abercrombie said on Tuesday that an investigation had unearthed papers proving Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961.

He told Honolulu’s Star-Advertiser: ‘It actually exists in the archives, written down,’ he said.

But it became apparent that what had been discovered was an unspecified listing or notation of Obama’s birth that someone had made in the state archives and not a birth certificate.

Somehow this reminds me of Hansen.
