The Oregon Story Gets Worse

Every Oregon station in the U.S. Historical Climatology Network showed an increase in annual average temperature in the 20th century

http://www.oregonlive.com/

The graph above shows that statement isn’t correct, even for the adjusted data. Pilot Rock, Oregon shows no warming. In fact, nine out of the ten hottest years came before 1970.

The Great White Hurricane of 1888

New York received five feet of snow, with drifts taller than 50 feet. At least 400 people died. Winds were close to 50 mph. CO2 levels were 294 ppm, far below Hansen’s safe and stable 350 ppm.

The days before “The Great White Hurricane” were unseasonably mild as temperatures ranged from the 40s and 50s (Fahrenheit) along the U.S. East Coast. As torrential rains fell, the temperature plunged suddenly, producing howling winds and wet, heavy snow. Major cities such as New York, Boston, and Philadelphia soon lay silent and alone as miles of telephone wires and telegraph cables snapped. (See the picture above.) Fire fighters with horse-drawn carriages stayed stuck in their stations as travel became impossible and roads impassable. During the 36-hour Blizzard of 1888, an estimated $25 million (USD) worth of property burned. At sea, two hundred ships were grounded and over 100 seamen died.

NSIDC Showing Global Ice Extent Above Normal

I took the NSIDC Arctic (red) and Antarctic (blue) graphs, overlaid them, stretched  the Antarctic y-axis to make the scales identical, and offset the y-axis to make the current Arctic extent line up with the average Antarctic extent.

By doing this, you can visually see that the negative Arctic anomaly is smaller in magnitude than the positive Antarctic anomaly. This means that global sea ice extent is above normal for the date.

(This would be a lot simpler if NSIDC published the numbers they use to make these graphs.)

The ice is melting very slowly in Antarctica because temperatures there are running far below normal.

SMH : US Leads List Of CO2 “Drug Dealers”

http://arcticfocus.com/

”Ninety per cent of all coal reserves in the world can be found in six countries: the US, India, China, Russia, South Africa, and of course Australia,” he says. ”The whole CO2 emissions problem is only six countries. Those are the drug dealers when it comes to selling coal. If these six countries would stop selling coal, there would be no problem at all.”

How many hundreds millions of people would be freezing right now if theses countries stopped selling coal? These eco-loonies seem to be proposing genocide.

USHCN Magic In Oregon

USHCN turns a cooling trend (red line) from the thermometers into an “adjusted” warming trend  (blue line.)

Phil Mote, director of the climate change research institute at Oregon State University, agreed regional details can be fuzzy. But the general direction for Oregon and the Northwest is clear, he said, with no plausible scenario in which the region cools over the next 40 years.

“Right now we’re operating in this sort of murky time where we have a pretty good idea of the direction that things are changing, but not the rate or the magnitude,” Mote said. “So we can give vague advice to say, consider building bigger culverts (to handle potential surges in stream flows), but we can’t in most cases give precise values.”

Northwest temperatures increased about 1.5 degrees from 1920 to 2003, the research institute’s report says, “primarily” due to human-caused carbon emissions. Every Oregon station in the U.S. Historical Climatology Network showed an increase in annual average temperature in the 20th century, the report says, but total precipitation has fluctuated and trends in extreme precipitation that causes floods “are ambiguous.”

He forgot to mention that this is after USHCN has reversed the trends – from cooling to warming.

Hottest Year Ever : Cold Wave Spreads To China

Besides Europe, China is also reeling under a cold wave. The country’s northern region is under a heavy snow blanket. The snow fall began 2 days ago and continues unabated.

Temperatures dropped to minus 22 degrees Celsius, the lowest this winter. Blizzard conditions reduced visibility to about 100 meters. All traffic came to a standstill.
The snow began to fall in China’s Heilongjiang province and Inner Mongolian on Thursday evening and continued to accumulate until Friday morning.

Arctic Seals Threatened Because Polar Bears Can’t Slaughter Them

The EPA claims that Polar Bears are threatened because they can’t hunt seals any more due to the “lack of ice.” Apparently 10,000,000 km² isn’t enough ice for them. Now the Obama administration wants to list the seals as endangered too.

NOAA cited shrinking sea ice and reduced snow cover as reasons for its decision.

Last winter was the snowiest on record in North America.
