Rapid Retreat Of Colorado Glaciers From 1919 To 1924
“BOULDER, Colo., Nov. 11.—Colorado’s glaciers are vanishing slowly, according to Professor Junius Henderson, curator of the museum of the University of Colorado.
Disintegration of the ice sheets has resulted largely from the excessive hot weather and the dry seasons during the last few years. The great ice masses on the glacier peaks of the Rockies have been in slow retreat for the last 23 years, Professor Henderson declares.
“However, the retreat has been very rapid since 1919, he said”
“Detailed study of the Arapahoe glacier reveals that the great tee sheet has retreated 40 feet ‘within the last 22 years.”

” the Great Ice Barrier which fronts the continent with a wall of ice for 250 miles has receded at least 30 miles since it was first seen and surveyed. Sir James Ross, who went out on the earliest Antarctic expedition of the nineteenth century, and those who followed him, left clear descriptions of this tremendous ice frontage and its position. It was a cliff 150ft. high and 1000ft. thick. But now it appears to be continuing its century-long process of shrinking; and that process may have been going on for centuries.
The shrinkage of the Alpine glaciers of Europe is a well-known and care-fully measured fact.”

Three days later climate scientists were predicting the collapse of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet.
“We’re doing about the most we can do right now to study the possible collapse of the west ice sheet,” said Dr. Richard Cameron, NSF program manager for glaciology. “It has become an area of concern because we could be on the brink of a rise in sea levels.”
We’re seeing the west ice sheet on its way out,” said Cameron. “It seems to be doing something completely different than the east ice sheet. It has nothing to do with climate, just the dynamics of unstable ice.“

ANOTHER FLOOD?
In many parts of the world geologists find signs that seem to point to a time when the sea level was much higher than it is now. In British Columbia, along the Rocky Mountains, and the Andes, and on many mountain ranges of the Old World also are prehistoric sea beaches, all at an average of 1,000 ft. above the pre-sent margin of the sea.
The formation of ice is not equal at both Poles; the Antarctic ice-cap is much the more extensive and more massive, and, they hold, it is actually still increasing by evaporation from the immense sea areas of the Southern Hemisphere and condensation over the great ice-covered Antarctic continent. With ice ever forming above and a sea gradually growing warmer below, the process must eventually overbalance, the undermined glaciers disintegrate, and the ice-cap break up. Mountain after mountain of ice will fall into the sea, be swept northwards by the currents, and melt, thus bringing about, but at a much more rapid rate, the threatened inundation of the land by the rising of the sea to its ancient level. Conceivably some such breaking-up of a polar ice-cap has occurred once before since man appeared on the earth. The Biblical deluge and the almost universal story, common to the mythology or traditions of peoples in all parts of the world, of a world-wide flood may have had its origin in the melting of the ice at the Pole and the pouring toward the equator of the pent-up waters.

January 1967 Tornado In Wisconsin
“The tornado was given a F4 rating on the Fujita Tornado Ranking Scale. The F4 occurrence was likely small in aerial coverage with the majority of the severe damage being classified as either F2 or F3.
Eight other tornadoes struck Missouri that day with 32 tornadoes in all occurring from Oklahoma to Wisconsin. The Wisconsin tornado is believed to be the farthest north tornado ever recorded in January. Many people will remember that the bad weather continued across Missouri January 25th and 26th with freezing rain and snow following this historic winter tornado outbreak.”
