Fact Checking USA Today : Five Pinocchios

USA Today is claiming this weekend’s tornado was the longest on record at 223 miles.

The longest tornado of the 20th century occurred in 1917 – covering 293 miles of Illinois and Indiana. That was seventy miles longer than this weekend’s tornado.
