Well, if you put it that way, then you might describe the other extreme side as aging, moderately educated, rural, red-state white guys that feel like the world is getting away from them. And they would be right.

  2. margaret berger says:

A percentage of the 15% are over educated affluent hippies with a guilt complex that wants everyone else to pay to make things “fair”.

  3. Mike D says:

What’s funny is JCDEL is right. Those groups overlap. The real number of clueless is much higher than 15%. And he’s forgotten the fascist types who are totally on board just out of ideology.

  4. Chuck says:

As a 35yr old single male I can personally attest that the majority of single women who vote Democrat self medicate themselves. They’re either numbed from prescription pain killers, or stoned out of their mind on Xanax. They just want to feel “good” about themselves.

  5. Mohatdebos says:

You left out a big constituency — local, state, and federal workers. By the way, most university employees fall in this category. In other words, Obama gets most of his support from people living off other people’s taxes. Unfortunately, as Mitt Romney found out, you are not allowed to make this statement.

  6. Marc says:

You guys are just awful in your demonization of wide swaths of people, and should really be ashamed. Many thoughtful people voted for Obama because the alternative was frankly not any better. This is all just ad-hominem garbage; can’t we stick with issues/science?

    • The numbers are pretty accurate for Obama’s ongoing supporters.

      • Marc says:

Hi, Steve. I love your site, and your skewering of climate warriors. The conspiracy-oriented, demographic-bashing stuff is another matter. There really are intelligent, white, upper middle class, highly educated people who had good reasons to support Obama over Romney in 2012. Obama has lots of problems, I agree. But our system gives us terrible choices; what can we do?

        • Marc says:

Not to mention that those numbers adding up to 28% is full of duplicates – you know, junk science of the type you like to ridicule. And those people are just as much citizens as you are, no? Should their vote not count (we could go back to the three-fifths compromise and reverse women’s suffrage too)? I guess I don’t understand your point(s) here; how does it move anything forward?

        • I went with a friend to hear Obama speak at CSU in October, 2008. I thought it was the most vapid, empty rhetorical nonsense I had ever heard from a politician.

She thought he was amazing, probably because she didn’t actually understand anything he was saying.. How could she? He didn’t say anything intelligent for the entire half hour.

  7. Marc says:

College educated white women were split 52/48 for Romney; does that fit with your paranoid view of the electorate? It’s not as though we’re given good choices every four years….

  8. Marc says:

Agree that politicians basically repeat nonsense over and over, and that most people vote based on whether they like the words or how the person dresses or whether they want to have a beer with him, etc. Democracy sucks that way, and I wish it were otherwise… You know Churchill’s quote…

  9. NotAGolfer says:

People who work for government are a big portion, I’m sure.

  10. Don Allen says:

College educated does not mean intelligent as the last two elections have proven.
