Well not quite. It is hard to call for “common sense gun laws” when this guy with a security clearance could easily pass a firearm background check. She would want those laws in place and then something like this to allow her to call for only the government to have guns. This was too much too soon.
With his history I could not have gotten a security clearance 20 years ago, when laws were more lax. I would not have been able to buy a weapon legally 20 years ago either.
Belief: A military base is an armed camp prepared to defend you.
Actuality: A military base is a Boy Scout camp, where the kids get to check guns out of the armory and shoot them occasionally. With lots of adult supervision.
