    Obviously, warming of the climate is a good thing — longer growing seasons produce more food! That settles it, I’m buying a Hummer!

    If melting ice exposed the remains of farms, those farms must have existed when the climate was just as warm or warmer. Actually, in 1952 that probably wasn’t a controversial proposition; only much later did it become dogma that the warming of the 20th century was unprecedented.
