It is not funny when you have to be prepared at all times to ward off Islamo-nazis.
As long as the State needs you you can get what you want. The moment Israel has no enemies left they will disarm their people. Let’s hope for the Israelis it will never happen.
Previously, many countries in Europe had conscription. That is abolished and therefore, most European men can not handle a weapon.
I have my doubts that Israel will ever lack for enemies. When they had no land, no country, & were marginalized in virtually every nation on Earth, they were viciously attacked & murdered. How much more so when they have a country? The devil will never allow them to live in peace.

By the way, rather than being life guards, I suspect these are off duty soldiers who are required by law to carry their weapon with them at all times. Anyway, I’d be happy to see them on the beach .
I think the whole point is they are guarding life, not that they are lifeguards. It’s the theme about having guns to protect against whack jobs.
