Steve, E M Smith appears to have found some very incriminating code in the GISS temperature calculations where Cold Sea temps are ignored along with other changes to the data set.

It’s important to remember why the Michael Mann hockey stick is so important to the CAGW crowd. Before the hockey stick the MWP, Roman Warm period and Minoan warm periods were well entrenched in climate history. Knowing that these warm periods existed meant that there was no danger of positive feedbacks. Based on the full spectral band of CO2 contributing to AGW only added (at most) 1.1 degrees C ( and it’s looking like much less). Nothing that would lead to CAGW.

When Michael Mann came out with his hokey hockey stick, climate scientists could now make the claim for positive feedbacks. Not that they had proof, they could just make the claim. These theorized positive feedbacks allowed them to claim CAGW. And off they went. Spewing forth.

With the hockey stick dead, the CAGW claim is a moot point and we can all go to bed at night without worrying about the Antarctic becoming the only inhabitable place on Earth.
