2014 Was The Least Hot Year On Record In The US

Two thirds of the US was below normal temperature last summer.

The percentage of US HCN stations which reached 90 degrees in 2014, was the smallest on record. The highest percentage occurred in 1931, when almost every single station reached 90 degrees. The area of the US which is hot has been plummeting since the 1930s.

1931-2014Below90degrees

This is the exact opposite of the 100% fraudulent NCDC climate extremes index (CEI) which reports that the region of the country with unusually hot days has increased to record levels.

My graph was generated using the identical HCN data set used in the NCDC/EPA graph. The difference is that I use the actual thermometer data, whereas CEI uses “adjusted” data. The EPA has another graph on the same web page which directly contradicts the NCDC CEI graph above.

The area of the US over 100 degrees and 110 degrees also peaked in the 1930’s, and has plummeted since.

These are critical indicators, because they are not affected by time of observation bias (TOBS) and show unequivocally that NCDC data tampering is incorrect. The reason that the CEI is wrong, is because they use adjusted data.

This is a smoking gun that the adjustments are fraudulent.

In a sane world, at some stage one would expect a Senate enquiry accompanied by a full independent audit; in a sane world.

Thank you, Steven, for calling a spade a shovel.

Society is now on the verge of revolutionary change:

    1. Robert K. Wilcox, well-known author of a book on WWII’s intriguing ending recently remarked that the fact the UN was formed on 24 Oct 1945 to prevent public knowledge of the energy source that destroyed Hiroshima – the same source of energy as the Sun – is “the greatest secret of the universe”!

    2. Once society accepts the influence on human life of a pulsar only one astronomical unit (1 AU) away from Earth, that hidden scientific fact will almost certainly improve the mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of society, as noted earlier:

Both the NCDC and NASA GISS should be the target of a fraud investigation by Sen. Imhoff and his committee. The temperature tampering by both agencies is designed to do one thing: inflate temperatures to conform to the “scientific opinions” of the politicians, including the big boss in the White House, who are responsible for precipitating and funding the global warming scare. Both agencies are engaging in pre-medidated fraud, and those responsible should be prosecuted.

Using slight of hand, I can see where they would claim that the world was the hottest last year. But the US? We live here, and last year was a very cold one! The summer never really arrived. It was like spring all summer, and last winter was the coldest that I remember. And that was for most of the country except california! Maybe they are adjusting thermometers now based upon the number of people affected?

SST’s are a large portion of the fraud, they act as if Argo buoys have been around since the founding fathers.

    • DVanDuker says:

I note that when temperatures in one part of the world are experiencing higher temperatures, other parts of the world are experiencing lower temperatures. Some glaciers advance while others retreat. When we take into consideration the smaller percentage of human generated “greenhouse” gases in comparison to the inherent volume that naturally occurs, the anthropogenic warming theory isn’t very logical. I personally think that the climate WILL change–and we will be better served working on adaption; as opposed to thinking that we somehow can preclude it by good intentions and government regulation.

And the first map shown is suspect as well. I note the area of Florida I live in listed as 0 to +2°F which is untrue. They use stations that are consistently 2° to 5°F hotter due to siting and UHI issues. We were far cooler and wetter than normal but they show us hotter and dryer so it’s even worse than Steven has proven.

    • Gail Combs says:

      Correct.

For the last two years my white clover has said they are Full of Pig Feces.

My clover has been happy and blooming all summer long instead of imitating a crispy critter as it did in the first 18 years I was living in the piedmont of North Carolina.

Description: <b.White clover is a cool season, perennial legume. It is extensively used in grass-legume pastures in humid, temperature climates….

It is a most notable plant in having population “explosions and crashes”. It is highly susceptible to drought,…

      Adaptation:
White clover is best adapted to humid, temperate regions. It is very cold tolerant but has a low tolerance to heat and drought. It is adapted to soils that are well to poorly drained, and tolerates acid to moderately alkaline conditions….

Climate: White clover is well suited to humid, temperate climates. It is moderately cold tolerant, surviving temperatures of 14 F (-10 C), but has a low tolerance to heat and drought, with growth stopping at 86 F (30 C). It grows best in areas with a minimum annual precipitation of 18 to 25 inches (450-625 mm) and temperatures ranging from 50 to 75 F (10-24 C). It requires good surface moisture or irrigation due to its shallow roots….

In other words white clover is NOT going to be growing in my pastures in the summer when I am grazing them unless the temperatures are BELOW 86 F (30 C) most of the time and I have sufficient rain !!! If I recall correctly it turns crispy critter if the temperatures go over 95 F

OT, but I had to vent this somewhere, so I thought I’d do that here. Chris Mooney has another ‘I am smart and you are stupid’ piece in the Washington Post today. Not sure if my comment will ‘stick’, but I thought I’d share it here: Chris–Per the quote from your piece “In fact, in many cases, scientists’ opponents are deeply ideological and deeply dedicated — and, yes, smart”–you can take out the word ‘opponents’ and the statement would also be true. But alas, you are blinded by arrogance, a belief that you alone are smartest guy in the room, and you–who profess to hold science (which practiced in its purest form is an undertaking built on skepticism and humility)–are willfully blinding yourself to the possibility that you might be wrong. Go ahead and smear me for saying this; over the years of reading your articles I would expect nothing less. I am not in the pay of Big Oil, and yes, I drive a Prius. My life is built on science. I am an Ivy League Graduate, score in the top 1% of standardized tests (for whatever that’s worth) with a Master’s degree. My son’s life was saved by modern science. I grew up surrounding by rapidly-advancing science. But you can’t conceive of someone who is legitimately smart disagreeing with you, especially on the climate issue. I respect your right to hold and express your views; your smarminess and belittling of others who disagree with you, however, is sickening. You would gain a much bigger audience if you apologized to those whom you insult if you just once said “I might be wrong.” Likewise, the scientific community—in all its brilliance—is often spectacularly wrong. Your apparent conclusion that you and science know all there is to know is not only revolting but disconcerting—especially as you and your comrades in the scientific community influence public policy. Your piece here proves my point. Science is right and the public is stupid—yeah, that’s real humility there.

OK–Got that off my chest. Carry on 🙂

  7. Andy DC says:

There is a blatant attempt to create a phony “climate crisis” to justify world communism and regulating every aspect of our life. Or else bad weather will destroy the planet within the next 10-50 years. What a farce! Obvious pandering to the dumbest of the dumb.
