“films, football, beer and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.”

    It’s really scary how accurate he was except for the timing, add 40 years to 1984 and he would be right on!

      President Ronald Reagan won a second term in 1984.

      However Reagan is the president that allowed the Banksters and Corporate Raiders to strip the wealth out of US corporations thereby bankrupting our home corporations and helping set up the current situation of transnational corporations that want to get rid of US sovereignty. This paved the way for the World Trade Organization that DADDY Bush was behind and Clinton got ratified.

      Statistics showed a steady increase of foreign ownership of U.S. assets that accelerated after 1985.

      This is a sampling of the industries with over 50% foreign ownership, according to Source Watch.
      http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Foreign_ownership_of_U.S._corporations

      “Foreign ownership refers to ownership of assets of a particular industry by foreign controlled domestic U.S. Corporations (FDC) 50% or more owned by a foreign entity.”[1]

      By that definition, the percentage of foreign ownership as of 2002 by industrial sector was as follows
      * Sound recording industries – 97%
      * Commodity contracts dealing and brokerage – 79%
      * Motion picture and sound recording industries – 75%
      * Metal ore mining – 65%
      * Wineries and distilleries – 64%
      * Database, directory, Book and other publishers – 63%
      * Cement, concrete, lime, and gypsum product – 62%
      * Engine, turbine and power transmission equipment – 57%
      * Rubber product – 53%
      * Nonmetallic mineral product manufacturing – 53%
      * Plastics and rubber products manufacturing – 52%
      * Other insurance related activities – 51%
      * Boiler, tank, and shipping container – 50%
      * Glass and glass product – 48%
      * Coal mining – 48%

      Also Dan Amstutz was Reagan’s and he wrote the draft of the WTO Agreement on Agriculture and the Freedom To Fail Farm Bill that again were implemented under Clinton. Obama and Richard Burr (R) North Carolina slammed the final nail into the coffin containing US independent farmers with the Food Safety Modernization Act.

      I think Eisenhower was the last president of the USA that truly was FOR this country. The others have all been puppets slowly implementing the Fabian/Socialist/Progressive goal of dismantling this once great nation.

      …….

      Huxley (Brave New World) and Orwell were both members of the Fabian Society. This is the letter from Huxley to Orwell upon reading the copy of 1984 that Orwell sent him.

      …. I need not tell you, yet once more, how fine and how profoundly important the book is.

      May I speak instead of the thing with which the book deals — the ultimate revolution?

      The first hints of a philosophy of the ultimate revolution — the revolution which lies beyond politics and economics, and which aims at total subversion of the individual’s psychology and physiology — are to be found in the Marquis de Sade, who regarded himself as the continuator, the consummator, of Robespierre and Babeuf.

      My own belief is that the ruling oligarchy will find less arduous and wasteful ways of governing and of satisfying its lust for power, and these ways will resemble those which I described in Brave New World….

      But now psycho-analysis is being combined with hypnosis; and hypnosis has been made easy and indefinitely extensible through the use of barbiturates, which induce a hypnoid and suggestible state in even the most recalcitrant subjects.

      Within the next generation I believe that the world’s rulers will discover that infant conditioning and narco-hypnosis are more efficient, as instruments of government, than clubs and prisons, and that the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging and kicking them into obedience….
