Pegida = Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West

      So I doubt you would.

PEGIDA aims to launch political party

PEGIDA will field candidates in Germany’s regional elections in 2016, and aims to form a political party, the anti-Islamization movement has announced. The move comes in the midst of growing anti-refugee sentiment….

This kind of thing to a smaller extent has been going on for some time in Germany. Back when I was stationed there I remember news stories on German TV showing night stick wielding police running immigrant squatters out of abandoned buildings they had moved into an taken over. They weren’t being gentle about it either. I just can imagine Germans, and especially the Bavarians putting up with this refugee BS in any way shape or form.

    Somebody isn’t learning from history–again.

Gandhi in India was up against the British Empire, which professed Christian values and more-or-less observed human rights. Had Gandhi offered passive resistance and civil disobedience to Imperial Japan, he would have been among the unlisted and forgotten dead. AS IT WAS, GANDHI WAS REPEATEDLY ARRESTED AND IMPRISONED.

    Somebody isn’t learning from history–again.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was up against America’s Democratic Party and the political machine under its control–and the DNC professed Christian values and more-or-less observed human rights. Had Dr. King been in China of the same period, his passive resistance and civil disobedience against Mao would have resulted in him being among the unlisted and forgotten dead. AS IT WAS, DR. MARTINE LUTHER KING, JR WAS REPEATEDLY ARRESTED AND JAILED.

    • Gail Combs says:

      You forgot , then MURDERED!

He was a Republican and the Progressives couldn’t have that. How many blacks now think Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a PROGRESSIVE?

Heck I thought he was a democrat/progressive until I read History of Democrat Racism

  5. au1corsair says:

Somebody isn’t paying attention to current events under the Islamic Caliphate. Look at what is currently happening to all those infidels obstructing the Religion of Peace–and to anybody who isn’t “Islamic” enough.

“Peaceful protests” will not work. The writing is on the wall and only the illiterate or willfully blind will fail to understand–right now, ruthless violence is quite profitable for those imposing “the Religion of Peace” upon Europe. Remove the profit motive and possibly–but only possibly–the Religion of Peace will use peaceful civil measures to gain political power. Keep violence profitable for the aggressor, and more violence will result.

    Just ask B. F. Skinner.

  6. cheshirered says:

Western Europe is approaching a highly unenviable point in history. The longer we do nothing to address this issue the harder it will be to eradicate it. The harder it is to eradicate the more politicians kick the can down the road during their own (usually brief) stint in office, making it even harder to address.
We have ourselves a very big problem.

    • Gail Combs says:

And Obummer and the Fabian/Progressives are trying to make a US problem just as Julia Gillard and the Fabian/Progressives made it an Australian problem.

So far, unlike the EU and Australian US still has guns…. mostly.

  7. wyoskeptic says:

In 1784 John Adams was Minister to England while Thomas Jefferson was Minister to France. After a meeting with Abdrahaman, Tripoli’s ambassador to London (regarding the Barbary Pirates and their demands for tribute to stop their piracy upon American ships at sea) Adams gave this caution to Jefferson: ““We ought not to fight them at all unless we determine to fight them forever,”

This was the time of the Barbary Pirates and the point of what Adams had to say is valid, with one problem to it however: It presupposes that anyone that the Followers of Islam consider a foe has that choice. They do not., Islam is about subjugation of all people everywhere, by force of arms if necessary. As imam Anjem Choudary has made abundantly clear, Islam is not a religion of peace nor is it a religion which recognizes freedom of speech.

Simply put, any non Muslim has two choices: become a Muslim or submit to those who are. It is not a matter of “we ought not fight them at all unless we determine to fight them forever” it is a case of “If we wish to be free, we must determine to fight them forever.”

OT but no AGW means no more “climate sites” warmist, skeptic or denier. People are losing interest as nothing happens pretty damm obvious… I bet WUWT is losing hits not because its an excellent site simply because we are all losing interest. LOL

    • Robertv says:

WUWT is losing hits because it is focused only on climate while most WUWT readers know that the climate lie is just a very small part of the problem we face as a free people. That’s the power of Real Science.

Washington Times has an excellent piece on who Mohammad was. It ain’t pretty.

    • gator69 says:

It is amazing how few people know the real history of Mohammad. I forced myself through endless hours of documentaries from both sides (they really don’t disagree much), and did my share of reading as well. As the article states, the Quran is arranged from shortest verse to longest, and not in any chronological order. So one must know the chronology to understand that Allah changed his mind about being good neighbors once Mohammad had enough power. The peaceful verses are from the early years, when they were a powerless minority, and at the mercy of their hosts.

      • Truthseeker says:

Apparently, since the words of Mohammad came directly from Allah, the Muslim world justifies this change of attitude with the following argument … Allah can do anything including changing his mind.

So Allah can do anything, including getting things wrong?

The jihadists should reflect on that …

      • Robertv says:

Have a higher birth rate than your hosts and eventually you become the dominant power. As a strategy it’s a very clever one. Of course if you think that’s too slow you send large numbers of ‘refugees’ .Know the weak points of you host and make use of them. What civilized culture would not help people in need.

The Roman Empire made more or less the same mistake.

    • Neal S says:

And why are there no ‘moderate’ muslims outraged calling for an end to these atrocities.

      • Gail Combs says:

There is no such thing as a ‘moderate’ muslim. There is just Taqiyya and apostasy, which carries a sentence of death.
“…when discussing Islam, it is more accurate to talk of “war and deceit.” For, from an Islamic point of view, times of peace—that is, whenever Islam is significantly weaker than its infidel rivals—are times of feigned peace and pretense, in a word, taqiyya.”

  13. Gail Combs says:

OOPs, I was incorrect the Group is NOT Progressive.

Pegida the last word stands for a newly formed group:

Every Monday evening since last October, thousands of citizens have marched through the city of Dresden as well as other German cities to protest the Islamization of their country. They belong to an organization, established only three months ago, called Pegida, the German abbreviation for “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West.”

Seems the People of the EU are finally getting fed-up with the progressive crap.

With luck they will have people to vote for who are willing to toss the immigrants back out.

IIRC in Germany, being born in Germany DOES NOT make you a German citizen. You retain the citizenship of your parents — Smart people.

    • Essentially they are Progressives supporting the Jihadists …

OOPs, I was incorrect the Group is NOT Progressive.

The second time you got it right, Gail.

Things are different in Europe and the left-right political scale is shifted *) but PEGIDA are not “Progressives” and they are not Jihadist supporters.

Pegida stands for Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes, i.e. Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West.

They are a populist movement outside of the established political parties; attacked from left and right, they’ve been recently vilified by the “conservative” Chancellor Merkel of the Christian Democrats.

The city of Dresden, state and federal police warned PEGIDA that there is a “concrete threat” against specific individuals during their upcoming Monday rally. They seem to have intercepted Jihadist communication about individual attackers mixing in with the crowd with a goal to murder PEGIDA leader Lutz Bachmann. The police assume that explosives could be used against the crowd.

Based on this information, the Dresden police prohibited all public open air events and PEGIDA itself canceled its planned rally.

Here is some reporting in German. I’m too lazy to look for more in English but I expect by tomorrow the news will hit the British press.

*) It is a common tactics of both the Left and the Establishment in Europe to call populists “extreme right” and tie them to Nazis. PEGIDA is defending itself against these charges as you can see in their busy graphics.
