2014 was nowhere near as warm as 1998, but in order to see just how spectacularly fraudulent the NCDC and GISS claims are, you really need to look at maps.
2014 was an ordinary year. October had the highest reported GISS anomaly of 2014, but satellite data showed that October wasn’t hot at all.
1998 was a hot year. The two years weren’t even in the same ballpark.
The claims of “hottest year ever” are propaganda generated for politicians. They have nothing to do with science or Earth.

Imagine that, Tony–NASA admitting that the sun is the source of weather and climate on Earth…what next?
Eventually we end up like our neighbor (Mars) with a dead core and are offered no protection from our star.
Without a hot and robust core at the center of our planet life could not be supported!
Only with an active core, a rather large magnetosphere and the eight spheres that are contained within it, do we find ourselves here…
During lengthy magnetospheric excursions and outright reversals, you’d better live well below the sea surface or deep underground. otherwise you’d find a toasty and rather energetic planet surface 😉

Not really fair comparing different months
These are anomalies. October was the month with the highest GISS anomaly. The comparison is the correct one.
Looks like you need glasses, snaggletooth. First, they’re from OCTOBER and April – not from “April and December.”
Secondly, in the post above, he explained exactly why he chose October 2014. Because, “October had the highest reported GISS anomaly of 2014”.
Not really fair to be criticizing someone about your reading comprehension dificulties.

NASA’s own error bars, which are larger than the supposed warming (somehow measured in hundredths of a degree), negate any claim that 2014 was the hottest year ever. Gavin Schmidt lied to the press, and like willing stenographers, they dutifully regurgitated the lies.
