“You Can’t Just Use The Raw Score”

After expert re-analysis, the National Sports Data Center (NSDC) has determined that Peyton completed 39 of 47 passes, and the Broncos won by 17.54 points.

Bubba Karl said “You can’t just use the raw score. It is a mess and full of errors.” When questioned about the terrible performance of the Broncos, Mr. Karl said “the adjustment algorithm is working as designed.

I thought that I didn’t care about football, but when you adjust my raw interest, it turns out that I care greatly.

    LOL. And ditto here!

Well, they do have fantasy football.

The NCDC published the following RAW vs Adj on their website:

Commenting on this, Mr Karl said, “Far from people calling for Manning’s replacement, our data shows that he should be committed to a $1bn contract until he dies, as the older he gets, the better he gets. Indeed, by the time he’s 76 years old, he’ll be completing 250% of his passes.”

Well as a fan of the Colts a member of a family that has had 4 season tickets since they came to Indy years ago all I can say is that Manning was the greatest thing to happen to that Franchise since Johnny Unitas. Luck is good and Indy fortunate to have him but Manning will always be a Colt no matter what.

  8. Andy DC says:

Payton actually completed 39.47 passes out of 47.13 attempts. Our models are so sophisticated, they have passing stats down to 1/100 of a pass.

  9. SMS says:

I’m just reading on the Denver News stations that the Broncos and John Fox are parting ways. I wonder what the underlying reason for this major move is? Fox has kept Denver in the winning column for many years now, even with Tim Tebow as the Denver quarterback, he put them in the playoffs.

    Perfect analogy.

  11. ACR says:

Wow! This is interesting! It looks to me that the NSDC adjustments routinely reduced Manning’s completion percentage early in his career and added to his completion percentage in recent years.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I bet the adjustments fully explain Manning’s improved passing completion ratio. Somebody ought to isolate the adjustments and graph only the adjustments to test out this theory

  12. Skeptic says:

Sorry. Even with adjusted stats Manning still stunk!

  13. emsnews says:

We need someone to reveal the emails discussing how to manipulate his passing data.

But then you’re left with, “why the blimp?”

I see what you did there. You had to remove the Medieval Warm Period (Second Quarter TDs by Herron and Allen), as well as 30s/40s heat wave (Third Quarter TD by Nicks), to produce the hockey-stick increase in point differential.
