      Destroying the Dominant Social Paradigm Via Education for 21st Century Political Power and Personal Gain

      Who knew that targeting the Dominant Social Paradigm to facilitate future social change was so thoroughly underway in countries like Germany and the US and the UK by the early 80s that books were being written simply shorthanding the goal as DSP? No wonder Outcomes Based Education and systems thinking were needed via K-12 education reform globally starting in earnest in the 80s. Now that I have firmly attached my deerstalker hat on my head of curls and pulled out by magnifying glass to peruse the footnotes, let’s go back to Lester W. Milbrath and his Environmentalists: Vanguard for a New Society before pivoting to go through the troubling Brookings Institute presentation yesterday of the new Oxford report. Pushing for “a collective vision for society” and “shared global values around which a unified and enduring pathway for society can be built.”

      Whew! Good thing thing Brookings has no interest in education or social policy or we might need to be worried about what they are pushing. Why? How? Who really benefits? will all need to become our habitual inquiries as we embark upon our continuing investigation into this hoped for wholesale transformation away from individualism and personal choices to a planned public sector centric economy and society. As we saw in the last several posts, this aim has gone on for decades but whether we know it or not, we are in the final stages.…..

      We ask the vets, doctors and pharmacists what is 6 X 9 before we allow them to work on our animals or us or buy medicine from them.

      Dumbing Down America by Dr. Samuel Blumenfeld

      …In 1894, Dewey was appointed head of the department of philosophy, psychology and education at the University of Chicago which had been established two years earlier by a gift from John D. Rockefeller. In 1896, Dewey created his famous experimental Laboratory School where he could test the effects of the new psychology on real live children.

      ….. the purpose of the school was to show how education could be changed to produce little socialists and collectivists instead of little capitalists and individualists. It was expected that these little socialists, when they became voting adults, would dutifully change the American economic system into a socialist one.

      In order to do so he analyzed the traditional curriculum that sustained the capitalist, individualistic system and found what he believed was the sustaining linchpin — that is, the key element that held the entire system together: high literacy. To Dewey, the greatest obstacle to socialism was the private mind that seeks knowledge in order to exercise its own private judgment and intellectual authority. High literacy gave the individual the means to seek knowledge independently. It gave individuals the means to stand on their own two feet and think for themselves. This was detrimental to the “social spirit” needed to bring about a collectivist society.

      ….One who observed and understood was the Creel Committee foreign educational section member, and future dean of Teachers College, William R. Russell. He was in Russia soon after the Bolsheviks seized power and spent considerable time there, working on Creel propaganda against the Germans, for the Bolsheviks, and later against the Bolsheviks. Russell described how he saw the communist tradecraft:

      Russell’s spot-on understanding of how the communists worked, based on his own on-location observations in Russia during the revolution should have been useful to him during the next two decades of his work at Columbia. Yet, under his nose, communist covert influence agents like George Counts, who was under Russell’s supervision at Columbia’s Teachers College, used the exact tactics he described—talking, publishing, orating and haranguing, breaking down democracy from within, attacking the leaders, making people lose confidence—to destroy American society.

      ….Let’s examine one DNA match—in the Academic/Education domain. The KGB targeted this domain as one of the main conduits to attack and shape the attitudes of the future—American children….

      In 1931 Houghton Mifflin published New Russia’s Primer: The Story of the Five-Year Plan, by M. Ilin, translated from the Russian by George S. Counts, Associate Director of the International Institute and Professor of Education in Teachers College, and Nucia P. Lodge, Research Assistant in the International Institute.

      We see that Anna Osipovna has transformed herself into Nucia Lodge. And we see that the dapper professor Counts modestly claims that he translated the book, while grudgingly crediting his KGB handler. The payload of this unbelievably brazen covert influence operation is straight out of Muenzenberg’s manual.

      Muenzenberg’s payload: “You think the capitalist system is corrupt…You’re frightened…by the oppression of the working man…You think the Russians are trying a great human experiment…”
      Counts’ New Russia’s Primer:

      In America the machine is not a helper to the worker, not a friend, but an enemy. Every new machine, every new invention, throws out upon the streets thousands of workers. In glass factories one person now makes three thousand bottles an hour. In former times such a task required seventy-seven men. This means that each machine for the making of bottles deprives seventy-six men of employment. And the American worker despises the machine which takes away his bread.

      But how is it with us [Russians]? The more machines we have, the easier will be the work, the shorter will be the working day, the lighter and happier will be the lives of all.

      We build factories in order that there may be no poverty, no filth, no sickness, no unemployment, no exhausting labor— in order that life may be rational and just…We build in our country [the U.S.S.R.] a new, an unheard-of, a socialistic order.

      The newly-minted “Russian expert” from Columbia delivered the KGB payload directly into the cultural heart of America. “Capitalism is corrupt! Russia’s experiment is working!” screamed his text.

      The Primer was a selection for Book-a-Month Club members in May 1931, and 46,000 members chose it. Counts’ first influence project was a best-seller for seven months, and ranked eighty-first on the list of nonfiction bestsellers from 1921-1932….

      I can remember a buddy’s girl friend, the daughter of a teacher ranting on and on about how computers were ‘stealing work from The People’ We saw an example of this type of thinking from the ‘Wind Barron’ just recently.

      In both cases the concept is ass-backwards. To them work is about producing a pay check so any work, digging holes and then filling the holes in, will do. The concept of work as wealth creation is completely missing.

    The new common core math what matters is not if the answer is correct, more at if you tried to get it which is enough even if getting a wrong answer.
    It was shoved through in an area where the federal gov. has no authority by federal subsidies or bribes to school districts for money similar to M. Obama’s lunch plan for public schools to make us more healthy and feds controlling what we eat or now what kids are taught in school with the opposite results, big brother socialism, and the math only matters for the school budget dollars.
    Similar to skeptics getting crucified for denying the theory of global warming based on pure science or non-manipulated temperature record, deniers of the common core arrested for merely voicing concerns against the political agenda at the direction of the school superintendent, here in Maryland, Baltimore Co, …, see vid … (in your neck of woods Tony) ..

    It is a bit much when government tells us what and how to learn, and what we can eat.

    Aside to bring people with low math skills up, so more people above median by the new nationalized common core “math” curriculum where that is impossible, have done a few in class examples of over-confidence bias asking people to rate their driving skills above or below median relative to others in the classroom of say 30 people, always get about 90% of students thinking they are above median for relative driving skills which is impossible, same over-confidence psychological bias exists for climate change “experts”, promoters of nationalized control what we are allowed to eat, or common core schooling “experts” who think 2+2=5 is OK, people accept confirming evidence, ignore evidence counter their prior beliefs.

    Reminds me of how John P. Holdren, http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/microsites/ostp/holdren-mug.jpg President Obama’s top science adviser and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy tried to teach us during last winter’s 100 year record low temperatures that the record cold and polar vortex was caused by global warming, idiotic, warming causes extreme cold, same “expert” said decades earlier that we should poison the public water supply with birth control pills and sterilization agents to prevent population growth and catastrophe for public good.
    Common Core – let the “experts” in government like Holdren teach us that we can bring more students above median, or national objectives like climate change or other agendas, or control what we are allowed to eat – it all starts in school and controlling what people think or can be taught, Joseph Goebbels could only wish the same. I prefer not to eat wax apples or ones with rotten cores despite the government funded propaganda on how good the forbidden fruit tastes.

      You can blame that on busing under-aged drug pushers from the ghettos into fresh new territory. My Jr. High went from no drugs to my friends 6 yr old sister stealing out of Mom’s purse to support her cocaine habit in less than a year.

      Busing and the rest of the Progressive ‘solutions’ has done nothing but spread the misery and worsen the conditions for blacks.

      … You see black female head of household arrangements is a relatively new phenomenon. From 1890 to about 1950 blacks where actually getting married at higher rates than whites. Marriage rates for both continued to increase from 1890 through to a peak for blacks in 1950 (78%) and for whites in 1960 (80%) and has been declining for both races ever since, just more sharply for blacks, a lot more sharply. The female head of households have traditionally been because of the death of black men, meaning female head of households traditionally speaking have been widows. In the 1950’s female head of households sat at 17.6%,
      1960’s 21.7%,
      1970’s 27.8’s,
      1980’s 37.8%.
      By looking at these numbers it becomes clear that slavery couldn’t be the reason for the black family because for a significant period after slavery blacks where getting married and led by black men. So the question has to be what happened in the 60’s that changed all that…..

      The writer goes on to pin point the minimum wage (blacks actually had a higher employment rate than whites) and welfare so the black male head of household was replaced by government handouts.
