Please keep this hush-hush. I’ve designed a mechanism to make the national bird and all other raptors go extinct. Guaranteed to get the job done.
It uses 100 meter long blades spinning at 100 miles per hour. Completely green and wind powered.
Don’t tell anyone!
There was an interesting article in a New Hampshire paper recently, that reported the high price of electricity in New England was partially due to capacity payments. What was extremely discouraging about the comments of the public and the politicians about this, is that no one in New England can seem to realize that the capacity requirements are increasing because of the Renewable Greenhouse Gas Initiative. If one adds highly variable wind and solar power to one’s grid, of course one’s standby capacity costs are going to increase..
I’m emitting greenhouse gasses right now… let’s ban Taco Bell!!
Great Idea… I hate Birds… love the decapitation machines..
Arnie breaking the law overseas 😛 http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/melbourne-police-officers-pull-up-arnold-schwarzenegger-for-riding-a-bike-without-a-helmet-20150317-1m0s5c.html
Stupid law
Saved my life. Went for a slide and it ground through to the foam lining of the helmet
Understandably, its not a law I’m against. 🙂
ps… nice thread to attract the barren-minded one into wasting more of his worthless time 🙂
There are thousands of good habits to have. Which ones should the government mandate and how does one decide?
The government in Australia bears a huge cost from bicycle head injuries as part of the Medicare system. (Not sure what happens elsewhere.)
I don’t have a problem with them trying to minimise that cost.
I prefer Dawin’s Law: The Dumb and the Stupid do not survive to produce offspring who are even dumber.
Years ago Indiana decided it needed a motorcycle helmet law and they got it through making a helmet mandatory mandatory for every rider. A few years later they did away with it and to this day only learners or riders under 18 y/o are required to wear a helmet though all riders must use protective eye wear.
Why the change? Well the insurance companies found out that helmets result in more people surviving brain injuries and the continuing care for a human vegetable is a lot more expensive than if the injury was fatal. Thus no more helmet law.
I have an old clipping from the Wall Street Journal. A doctor found that helmets in young children INCREASED injury. A child’s head is big in proportion to his body and the helmet throws the kid off balance. It also increases the chance of neck injuries.
I think it should be left to the parents and the children as to what safety devices they use. I really am sick of the US Nanny State.
……
A report in a factory I worked at:
“Hand cut open by safety device” —- Didn’t go over well with the upper management, but the safety officer, a friend of mine lauged himself sick over it.
under each one of those turbines – 800 tons of concrete.
You may have to check with the patent office…

Raptors aside, these windfarms are an eyesore. One here and there might be okay, but the ones I’ve seen on the ridges in Western Texas (thanks GWB) seriously detract from the natural beauty of these areas.
Wasn’t it Martha’s Vineyards a decade or so back that decided that a wind farm would be bad because it would ruin the natural scenery?
But it’s okay if it’s NIMBY.
Yes it was Edward Kennedy that nixed it.
He was just the most prominent of the rich that fought it. Didn’t want their view disturbed. But Fat Head Ted the drunken secretary drowning, waitress sandwich man, is long dead now and I haven’t heard a revival of that proposal.
They are killing bats by the millions too. The pressure drop rips their lungs and bats drown in their own blood. Thank you, greens, for ruining everything you pretend to care for.
smart ass
