If Obama believed his own BS about Iran’s intent and green energy, he would convince Iran to go 100% renewable. He is not a supporter of nuclear power.
If Obama got onto the global stage and seriously pushed for Iran to drop the nukes and go 100% renewable, it would be a comedy act hard to beat.
Seriously though, the Middle East has been badly destabilized, and at least part of that was US meddling (the other part was just the general attitude typical of the region). You can understand why countries like Iran want to have a nuke to wave around and get some respect. Not saying it’s a great idea to encourage that, but if the Middle East was stable, then Iran would have a lot less incentive to be militant. Now we have ISIS who are worse.
There can never be peace with Islam. Even if the entire world were Islamic, Sunni would fight with Shia. Even if the entire world were just one sect, those within that sect would fight others within. Iran’s desire for Nukes is not to get some respect. Iran wants to “bathe the world in blood and fire to bring back the ’12th Imam’”

There cannot actually be a peaceful Islamic state. A state can only be peaceful to the extent that it is NOT actually Islamic. Islam is also fundamentally incompatible with the US constitution and bill of rights.
No treaty or agreement made with an Islamic state can ever last. The only uncertainty is how long it will seem to hold until they betray you.
