A few days ago, experts reported record heat in Antarctica based on a few hours of downslope winds at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. They attributed this to global warming.

To be fair, they claimed record temperature, not heat.
The Washington Post went hysterical about one station where no one lives in the middle of nowhere. More so than the coldest Ferbruary ever, coldest February-March ever and coldest January-March ever, for many locations right here in the good old USA. Some right here in the general DC area.
What is interesting is Lancaster County, PA, a very rural area of flat fields with a mainly Amish population (1800’s technology plus farms) had the first quarter of 2015 rank as the coldest in recorded history (101 years.) Combined, those three months averaged 7.1 degrees below the normal temperature in the county.
Individually, January was 4 degrees below normal, February was 11.3 degrees below normal and March was 6 degrees below normal.

The 17.5°C (63.5°F) temperature at Esperanza occurred just one day following a reading of 17.4°C (63.3°F) measured at Base Marambio (also under Argentinean administration) on March 23rd. Marambio is located about 60 miles (100 km) southeast of Esperanza. Both figures surpass any temperature yet measured at either site. Esperanza’s previous record high of 17.1°C (62.7°F) was recorded on April 24, 1961 according to Argentina’s met service SMN (Servicio Meteorológico Nacional) and the previous record for Base Marambio was 16.5°C (61.7°F) on December 7, 1992.
“More importantly, the temperature at Esperanza exceeds any figure yet observed on the Antarctic landmass or Peninsula. According to the WMO, the all-time warmest temperature yet observed in Antarctica was 15.0°C (59.0°F) at Vanda Station on January 5, 1974. Vanda Station is located near 77°S latitude but was occupied for only brief periods, mostly during the Austral summers, between 1967-1995. It now has an automated weather station and is occasionally visited by researchers. Base Esperanza’s weather records began in 1945 according to data published in The World Survey of Climatology: Vol. 14, The Polar Regions. On page p. 353 there is a table of climate data for Esperanza based upon the POR of 1945-1960. I am not sure if the POR has been continuous since 1960 up to the present. Base Marambio was founded in 1969 and is a relatively large facility with at least 55 year-round personnel, a total that swells to 200 during the summer.”

Tom Steyer’s group shutters climate policy arm as political efforts ramp up
The move indicates that Steyer will probably shift more resources toward his attempts to sway the 2016 elections…
Next Generation, co-founded by Steyer in 2011, plans to end its climate policy work and continue as a “nonprofit incubator,” energy program leader Kate Gordon wrote in an email obtained by POLITICO.
The move doesn’t mean Steyer is giving up on his pledges to make the environment and climate change major campaign themes in 2016. In fact, it indicates that Steyer will probably shift more resources away from his organization’s policy arm and toward its political efforts, including his super PAC NextGen Climate Action.
Next Generation is a nonpartisan think tank focused on policy research on climate change, children and families, Steyer’s top priorities, and played a key role in promoting Proposition 39, a California clean energy ballot initiative that passed in 2012. But his super PAC is the part of the organization that has turned him into an increasingly prominent player in liberal Democratic politics.
Steyer contributed more than $65 million of his own money toward the super PAC’s efforts to sway seven key gubernatorial and Senate races last year, though most of his favored candidates lost.

Great that you’ve dug that info up, and I agree, flood em with complaints and questions. What gets me is they suspended Tom for use of the word “crap,” and Gavin used the very same word that same day! In fact Tom was using that word just to echo Gavin. Insane. This is outright selective discrimination. Once the public knows that the media and many corporate “social media” interests are clearly aligned with the leftists, there’s going to be some payback.

First Re Judith Curry— What you wrote in a previous thread we have already gone over.
It was a reply to Rud Istvan I was doing. Regardless of the subject, I believe there are more skeptics than alarmists that post on Climate Etc, and many with a background that makes there post a learning experience for me. Also, there is a wealth of topics and there may be some convincing being done at that site.
Second As I have said before, most of what we do here in reply, really, is vent, What is valuable to me is a huge cache of data that isn’t presented elsewhere.
In reply, many at this site give all sorts of various types of information, in particular, you do Gail, and I appreciate it.
Third, What I am saying we don’t do is debate much of anything, or take a subject and delve deeper into it.
I will repeat that I recommend for anyone that has the background, reading some things by Omanuel. The science involved does relate in a tangential way to the ACC foolishness.
This site offers the most latitude of any site I have yet to find, and to me that is as American as it gets. Thanks to many cranks who are allowed to post here, I have gained enormous amounts of references to aid in my rebuttal of lunacy and idiocy. I now have 50 different files located on two different servers that I can access instantaneously, 2 new files created in just the past 2 weeks.
Gail, along with many others with many valuable life experiences and educations, are invaluable to those of us who are truly seeking truth, instead of an agenda or confirmation bias.

Much of what I stated in that thread, in reply, is that I have read much of what you have posted on Climate etc, and I have gained much from it both in information content and in demeanor. Lately, to summarize a concept discussed at Climate etc, much more will be gained by respectfully engaging those to whom you have differences of opinion than by heated battle.
Nobody listens and nobodies mind is changed only emotionally solidified. Sadly this has been a characteristic of US politics.
I have more respect for Judith than perhaps Gail does. (right Gail?) At one time she was very much in the Alarmist camp, but then started to engage with the likes of Steve McIntyre, and found out there was much to what he and others were saying. She angered the likes of Michael Mann and associates. Her main thrust, I think in the climate change domain is that there are not only unknowns but unknown unknowns.
Regardless of some of her associations, she tries, I think, to look at each subject carefully. She has stated many times that the IPCC has totally disappointed her and should be abandoned.
Henry Wallace was very much infatuated with the Soviet Union and Uncle Joe Stalin. He was VP under Roosevelt from 1941-1945. Thank goodness FDR replaced his with HST during the election of 1944. He is the closest we have come to having a communist president, at least until now!

Dome A is not 1 atmosphere, it’s really high elevation. It’s even higher than Dome GE (secret spot near French dome C) where we left some remote controlled telescopes for GE’s infrared division many years ago.
