Only problem is that 45 years earlier, scientists said the Ross Ice Shelf had been receding for centuries, shrinking more than three feet per day.

All we plebs need to know is no matter if the ice is receding or expanding, it’s down to catastrophic global warming.
They think this one glacier is going to cause sea-level rises? Thwaites is fast-moving as it is and already dumps a lot of ice into the ocean. I suspect you could melt the whole thing and not get a blip on sea-levels.
Steven, you know the scam, I know the scam, but I cannot understand why so many skeptics fail to understand that our government gives research funds to scientists to find and report “scientific evidence” to support any policy they want.

But a second realization is rarely understood, and this was for me an

We eventually had a phone conversation because this person never wanted anything in
writing.
This person said the livelihood of the persons family depended on the work of the person.
Also, this person, with an obvious tearful response, said that if the person stated the
understanding as the person currently understands it, the person would be met with ridicule,
harassment, and possibly the loss of tenure and more.
All I can say is the person’s work is in an area of modeling. But someday, with permission, I hope
to devote some writing, at length to the personal story.

You see the same thing in industry. I was fired three times for refusing to falsify certificates of analysis. The last time I was black balled.
Honesty and integrity is very costly especially in today’s society. I find that very very sad.
But then a lie for a good cause is accepted.

Thanks for the information. It is a reminder for us not to be too harsh in blaming those who accept research funds to falsify evidence of the government’s Standard Models of Climate, Nuclei, Stars, Cosmology, etc.
My research mentor, the late Paul Kazuo Kuroda, risked his own life by secretly keeping a copy of Japan’s atomic bomb plans for fifty-seven years to make certain world leaders would fail in their attempt to forbid reliable public information on the fountain of energy that sustains our lives, providing heat and light to the Earth and other planets.

I see the ice shelf collapse is going to cause a 4m says Susan of the Grauniad – I assume that is 4 meters increase in sea level. Guess it has not happened yet since we’d notice a 13 ft rise in sea levels. I bet Susan and the Grauniad are pleased.

Mawson Station established in 1954(wiki).
(He said that it’s especially bad at Mawson, where the ice typically breaks up for maybe one or two months each summer, but “in the last four to six years this has not happened every year, and some years only partially.”)
The West Antarctic ice sheet has been melting since the last glacial maximum some 20,000+ years ago. If I recall my high school world history correctly, I think that was somewhat before the industrial revolution started pumping extra CO2 into the atmosphere.
